Mindscape has today announced that it'll publish Kaan: Barbarian's Blade for the PlayStation 2 in the UK later this year. The fantasy action adventure game will see players assuming the role of a young barbarian named Kaan who undertakes a mission to recover the stolen Orb of Hope. Standing between Kaan and his goal will be hordes of skeletons, sorcerers, bearmen, and numerous other monsters that'll need to be dealt with the only way the young barbarian knows how. Players will, of course, have access to a number of different weapons in the game, and those announced to date include a long sword, a hammer, and a jet axe.

"While the action in Kaan is fast and furious and will give players a constant challenge, we believe that it's the look and feel and the quality of the animation that will ensure players come back to Kaan again and again," said Stefan McGarry, games PR and product manager at Mindscape. "You can pick up and play the game in an instant--but it will take a lot longer than that to master all its moves and intricacies."

In addition to the single-player game, Kaan: Barbarian's Blade will boast an arena mode in which players can do battle against dozens of different enemies. We'll bring you more information on the game, which is currently scheduled for release in the UK in September but has yet to be confirmed for release in other territories, as soon as it becomes available.
