First look: Hollow

ZootFly is currently working on a first-person shooter set in an alternate 1970s universe. First screens inside.

ZootFly has recently released the first information on Hollow, which is currently in development for both the PC and Xbox. Described by ZootFly as a combination of Splinter Cell, Doom 3, Battlefield 1942, and Halo, Hollow is a nonlinear first-person shooter set in an alternate 1970s universe where World War II never took place.

Players will assume the role of an expelled US journalist named Tyler Kilmore, who, upon returning to the disco-totalitarian state of Centrope to reunite with his fiancée, finds himself being arrested for her murder. Kilmore's enemies in the game will include Krux commandos, mirror men, pill bug robots, and rebels. Gadgets in his arsenal will include a night vision PolyVisor, a deboner, an infrared sniper gun, and a chronofreeze device that allows players to freeze and reverse time.

As players progress through the game they'll pass through four distinct locales ranging from a disco-totalitarian metropolis to a decaying underworld--each with realistic indoor and outdoor areas. Intriguingly, each mission in the game will end with a movie-style action sequence showing the player's best moments. Further information on Hollow is scarce at present, save for the fact that the game is currently scheduled for release toward the end of 2004. We'll bring you more on the game as soon as it becomes available.
