Hitman movie targets filming

Xavier Gens to begin shooting game adaptation in Bulgaria this week says Variety; Desperate Housewives star confirmed as villain.

Bulgaria is soon to be the site of many gruesome assassinations...on film anyway. Variety is reporting that Hitman, the upcoming 20th Century Fox film based on the Eidos game franchise, will begin shooting this week in the country's capital of Sofia. Befitting the game's many exotic locales, the movie will also be filmed in South Africa, London, and Istanbul.

As previously reported, Deadwood's Timothy Olyphant will play the lead, the bald assassin for hire known as Agent 47. Dougray Scott, who plays suburban suitor Ian Hainsworth in TV's Desperate Housewives, is locked in as the film's antagonist. Other cast members include Olga Kurylenko, Michael Offei, Ulrich Thomsen, and Robert Knepper, all directed by Frenchman Xavier Gens, who takes his first turn behind the camera of a big-budget Hollywood film.

Dougray Scott is a great actor but I would rather see David Bateson (the voice of hitman in the games) in the role as hitman. Not just because he has the proper voice but he also looks a lot more like him than any of the other actors I have seen being suggested for the role. Have a look.

Vin Diesel wouldn't be a serious actor. If he was to be in the movie than it would have to be action oriented. Timothy Olyphant is a good choose.

Maybe they should have mentioned Dougray Scott's previous villain role in Mission:Impossible II, not some stint on TV.

Hitman has a sophisticated lead and generally compelling if not interesting story so it shouldnt take much to make this into a decent if not great movie.

The movie isn't important, although I hope it doesn't flop. I just want another Hitman game. I beat Contracts and Blood Money to death.

What angered me is the fact that David Bateson auditioned for the lead role, and they wouldn't take him. Bateson would've been perfect for the role, as he is not only the voice for Agent 47, he is the character model, so it would be 47 incarnate. David Bateson is also 47 years old as of February 9th, 2007.

Well it is better then Vin Diesel. Christain Bale could have been a good 47....Well Look wise anyway. I don't know who the hell Ian Hainsworth is. As long as it is more noir not Shoot out after shoot out, It could be ok.

Timothy Olyphant? Weak... might as well have Howie Mandel play 47. At least he's bald by default these days.
