Hey guys if you're stuck at the place frippeak and rickove are you need to go out into the hallway where the zombies came from. Look up right after you are exiting the doorway to the elevator. There should be 1 support beam holding up the hallway above you. Shoot it.

    Hi everybody
Just noted that I seem to be stuck at the exact place rickove is talking about in his last comment. I am standing in the sloped corridor just before the lab and the door (with zombies) out to the previous elevator.
I have stacked the three boxes I could find, an jumped up to the railing between the flames above - BUT is not able to step over the railing into the small corrridor! I have tried al sorts of jumping (included crouch-jump) nut can't manage it. Am I in the right spot ?
I have succesfully lobbed a crate into the corridor so It should be possible, or am I right ?
Please assist .would like to complete this awsome mod.

Ive just download this the other day,an now run it from the desktop shortcut ok. tried it on my old system with my original Steam,HalfLife2 an Episode One ,specs amd2500+ Gt6600 agp ,1gb ram ,Xp. it locks up in cornners an doorways randomly ,very annoying .as HalfLife2 EpisodeOne doesnt in Steam.
So Reloaded the mod exe. to my new system amd5200+,Gt8600,2g ram.which has my Steam account,HalfLife2 and EpisodeOne. again running direct from new desktop **** this is good!
Would pay for this as a Full Retail game Expansion.as others have mentioned?
Have now had several full enjoyable hours with this ,an plenty more to come yet? Great! No lockup,Freezing smooth as on top Vga spec, detail.
If more Mods of this high standard are ever to be made for HalfLife 2,Please? I will be in line for a copy? Im a Fan of this great work! I want More! Cheers!

I finished today as well. It was/is a great mod. I agree, Adam Foster did great work creating this. I can see how it could have taken 2.5 years to create. For those thinking about trying it... Don't hesitate! Play it you'll love it.

I couldn't get the link working below that takes you to the forum page of the Metastasis website but I finally did and you're right there's plenty of info there. This right here isn't the only forum. I got the hint I needed over there (it was something I'd tried before a buncha times and it didn't work, but it finally did) and am now on my way forward. I'll be getting help over there from now on. See ya over there. I did check out the forum at FileForum and they're all stuck at the big red ERROR signs!

At the moment, I am returning to the surface. Fighting the zombies/head crab infested people...

The fix... in a previous post, someone posted a message with URLs to the website where the game is posted. There are boards there as well. Some good info...

I did start a new game after installing the patched version. It took out my save games I had. However, I was able to start a new game where I had left off. The beginning of 3.

Sounds like you're still ahead of me somewhat. So, not to much help here for you... yet... from me at least.

Yu[, same as me. Start Steam, ignore your desktop shortcut, and start again. No big deal, you'll race through the game till you get to where I'm stuck. Maybe you'll figure it out. I sure can't.

And what "fix" are you referring to??

And while I'm at it...I meant what I said when I think this forum is the only one discussing the entire Metastisis mod. We should band together and help each other out. Unless you are all as lost as I am.

OK, made it to scene/area three and see the errors you've been talking about. Guess I'll need to get the fix or start it from steam itself...

Ok, that switch. Will give that a shot. That is where the one message pops up for a little bit... Will look for a save somewhere in that area.

You have to go upstairs from there and there are two areas that overlook the girder room (on the only side of the room you can get to. Eventually you get to the other side but not now.) One of the overlooks is to the right at the top of the stairs, then look left. It has a redlight/greenlight switch that moves the girders way over to the left, then when switched the other way, brings the girders back to the right. It's tough to give directions in a game like this with so many hallways and rights and lefts...just look up from the girders and you'll see the overlooks.

And for those of you who have made it to the surface, I'm still running around like a sumb!tch, killing bad guys, and can't find the next logical step. From the time the elevator empties me out into some pretty messed up areas (that I've been to before) I've run down every hallway (fighting zombies all the way), then when that dead ends, turn around, fight zombies back to try some other area. Passageways I used before are collapsed and unuseable. Yes, I did close off that gas pipe that exploded and let me go through and up the stairs. I set up the turrets that are now on my side, but the messages keep telling me to get a move on before I run out of ammo. The bad guys just keep respawning and won't stop till I find some magical switch or pull some cord or find a ladder that'll let me get to where I need to be. I can see a room down below some grates in an upper level but can't get there. After my experience with the game not loading correctly and me spending hours stuck in a spot that truly I could not get past I can't help thinking I'm the "victim" of a glitch at this point and some passageway should keep going but doesn't. Does it have to do with that blue security screen down at the end of the upper hallway--I have to turn it off somehow? Anyone?

Switches? The ones in the "hallway" to the right? I didn't see them move when I tried acting upon them... As I recall, there are two banks of three switches... only one of which in each bank looks to be movable. Are these the switches you're talking about?

I was trying to move the girders myself... pushing, riding on it and swinging etc... Must be why I'm not getting anywhere. Guess I'll have to try a new tactic with the switches....

    Thanks

Just keep rocking those girders with the on/off switches. Eventually they'll knock a hole in the wall to the right and bad guys will come pouring out. When I was launching this mod from the Metastasis desktop shortcut it played fine till later. Then I saw big red ERROR signs all over the place. I thought that was part of the game. Well, eventually you just can't continue because the game won't be loading correctly. However...

Since I'm replaying the game, loading from Steam, I haven't seen those ERROR signs and things are good. It took me no time at all to get back to the third section of this mod (because I wasn't running around checking out every nook and cranny). I'm now being attacked by a hundred bad guys, zombies and beasties as I make my way to the surface. I'm looking forward to seeing the sun again.

I've really enjoyed the mod so far. I am stuck though.... I believe I am supposed to rock the girders through the steel door or something, but not getting it to swing enough or something. Am I on the right track? Is there a secret to moving them faster to break down the door?

Had no problems with the installer, worked great and I launch from the shortcut it put on my desktop.

I've just started over from the beginning, launching the mod from Steam only. I'll report back on what happens when I get 2/3 the way through. You know, this opportunity to download the entire Metastisis mod is pretty new. There aren't any other forums going that I know of that are discussing the entire thing. We're all feeling our way here and I'd like this particular forum to be the de facto "Metastisis Walkthrough" site. I guess more experience from all involved is necessary. As it is, replaying this complete mod is not a bad thing, it's pretty enjoyable.

Well, I tried something new. I launched "Half Life 2" instead of "Episode One", said yeah let Steam access the internet, got into the Steam page somehow (while HL2 was wanting to start), got to where I said "quit" to HL2, was back on the Steam page and launched Metastasis. Suddenly I'm in the same area I was stuck before, but now instead of bright red huge letters in front of me there's a sorta pathway to that bridgeway over there. I got up on it and...now what? My flashlight doesn't work, "A.I. Disabled" is on the right side of the screen and I finally get a message saying "Just can't get a f... move on, can you..." Just tell me if I'm finally on the right track and need to stumble around here now to find a way forward, or is my game still hosed? And BTW since I don't see those bright red huge letters anymore (spelling ERROR previously) does that mean all the real bright red and pink colors I saw before were actually not how the game is supposed to look?

OK, found the ladders. But my "e" has no power to active anything or pick up anything and I've entered this bizarro world where I can walk through some walls (and all boxes containing ammo, health etc). Am finally up in some large room full of bodies hanging off the walls and ammo (none of which I can pick up) and I just walk through the bodies. There's another room down a short passageway, blocked by a large metal plate--lots of stuff going on in the very large and tall room on the other side, but no way there. The lights on the consoles are blue on the lower screens and pink on the upper screens. I just get the feeling that the game is still not loading correctly. Am I just talking to myself here?

Thanks for your help but it turns out I can't start it from Steam, only the Metastasis shortcut on my desktop. The Steam screen starts, I highlight "Metastasis" then "Launch" but eventually I get "hl2.exe Application Error" "Instructions at "(long number here" referenced memory at "(another long number)". Could not be written". I'm not nearly as knowledgeable as you here about these things but I sure was having fun playing this mod. I don't really have the time to troubleshoot this mainly because I'd have no clue how to. Unless someone here can help me get this game going again I'll never get to the end. Snif!

jGRe - see my post before yours, your playing it in Episode 1 Mod, u need to start it from Steam Games...I had to re-do the whole thing but some say u can get away with it by using an earlier autosave. If u'v been playing it as Episode 1 mod u'v missed half the beauty of the game anyway.
