Anyone tried this yet? I've played for about 6 hours on my desktop and I'm trying to move the save game files to my laptop to take on a trip with me. I've tried just the savegame files, and then the entire GTAIV savegame folder, but neither works. I'll play with it more tonight and let you know ifI get it working.

Yes, GTA IV works fine on the laptop (ASUS T7300 2.0ghz, 2GB ram, 8600m GT NViddia). Took a while to get it up and running, but finally after updating .net 3.5, just ran RGSC by itself and let it update completely and everything works fine. Oh yeh, apparently my laptop does not like sp1 for Vista so it's working without it. But I have the compatibility set for Win 2K so that may have solved it too.

I spotted this on another forum i believe it works I transferred the save games from my notebook to my desktop pc

    1) Backup "C:\documents and settings\\Local Settings\Applicationdata\Microsoft\XLive" on desktop

    2) Backup "C:\documents and settings\\Local Settings\Applicationdata\Rockstar Games" on desktop

    3) Replace the directories from 1) and 2) with the ones from the notebook

So I can't do anything? I backup up just my savegames, and not my XLive files, so I think I have to start over, which I can't do out of pure frustration.

    Intel Core i7 920 @ 3.19

    Asus P6T

12 GB Patriot Triple Channel DDR3

300 GB Raptor, 500 GB HD Movie Drive, and 1000 GB Backup/pictures/movies/music/drive

    GTX 280

    750 Watt PSU

    47" LG HDTV

    Blu-ray/Hd-DVD Hybrid Drive

    :(

    @ EVILZED

Hey I've tried that what you suggested and the game now picks up the saves but whenever I try and load them I get the message

"load failed, please check your harddrive and try again" ??

    Have yours worked?

Its this kind of bullsh*t that makes windows LIVE such a pain.

A person on another website claims that he has succesfully done it, although I have yet to play a GFWL game where you were able to backup saves.

He claims that what you do is backup the save game, and when you reinstall the game, start a new game, and then just do a mission, or whatever, and save. Exit out of the game, and then replace that save file with your original, making sure that it matches the new name.

I have no idea if it actually works, never tried it myself. But there you go.

In order to get a saved game on another PC you need to get the save onto the computer you want to use it on.

In order to get it to work you have to place your account onto another computer.

    1) Install GTA IV on your laptop
    2) Copy the save onto a disk and or MEM stick from your computer and then place it onto the com you want it on.
    3) Launch GTA IV and sign into your account on line.
    4) Load the game and play

these work!!! Just tried them and was able to pick up on my game on my laptop right where I left off on my desktop. The key I think is to copy the 'entire' rockstar folder and the xlive folder.

    1) Backup "C:\documents and settings\\Local Settings\Applicationdata\Microsoft\XLive" on desktop

    2) Backup "C:documents and settings\Local SettingsApplicationdataRockstar Games" on desktop

    3) Replace the directories from 1) and 2) with the ones from the notebook

    Thanks EVILZED for finding this!!
