ico92 : It is open-world, but it has its limits.
Except they made it so that you kind of don't see or can't even reach those limits most of the time.
Some parts are inside structures too, which you're mostly free to roam in, except occasionally you're not allowed back.
So it's big enough to let you roam around, yet it has its boundaries in locations you rarely are.
It's like a forced open world, like you ARE in a sandBOX, there is a boundary but you want to stay inside and play anyway.

I disagree with the people that are all like "It should be working NOW!", cause it had been working since the beginning.
But I still want to say that, just too bad it's such a technically heavy game.
One game doesn't justify a full upgrade for me either, I must say.

Even though this game has great gameplay too.
It's not perfect, but it's just a top game.
Multiplay, even though you'd think it should be aweseom, kinda sucks though, it's pretty lame and it looks pretty silly everyone having these suits.
And the lame part is just the Multiplay-gameplay, the modes and all, they're boring and annoyingly goalless.
Every time I played online, I was like "Why am I here?... What's the point?". XD
When I saw previews of this game, I was hoping for some type of "war"-game.
Remember like the the previews of the Korean soldiers and everything.
I wish there was something more like two big groups opposing.
Not saying it should be one group with the suits and one without.
But just more battle-involved and more vehicles and a grander scale and such.
Kind of like the scene you see at 2:34 and 4:14 in this video.
COOP should have been there too, much like 'Joint Operations'.
They could have come up with something better...

Anyway, that's how I feel about it.
Great Singeplay though, kind of like 'Dead Space', it's kind of the same general quality I'd play the game for.
    Not Multiplay...

ElChonchoDiaz - What type of graphics card do you have and what quad processor?? My PC has a Q9550 quad processor, 8GB of RAM, and duel HD4850 ATI video cards and am able to play Crysis on "high" video settings at 1440x900 resolution. Judging by what I am able to do, seems like you can possibly do the same with your PC specs as well! Crysis ran on my old PC which had a 3.2 Hyperthread processor, 2gb of RAM and a Nvidia 6700 video card. The settings were on "low", but it ran with no problems.

Anyone think my computer could run it on max settings?
Intel Core 2 Quad 2.33GHz processor
    4 GB of RAM
and then I have an ATI Graphics Card with 2.2 GB of memory.

Hmm. I could probably run this on my Mackbook pro via bootcamp. It's 2.8ghz, 4 gigs ram, NVidia Geforce 9400 GT + 9600 GT Discrete graphics. Think I should give it a try?

This game is absolutely amazing, I run it on my PC with 4gb of ram, nvidia gpu with 1gb video mem, 2.75 core 2 duo cpu. I play it on Windows 7 on very high with 1440X900, and it's amazing. One of the best games ever.

i hope they bring support for dx11 and Improve the photo-realistic graphics.
Gameplay was awesome already, but i really would like crysis 2 to test my future rig with ati 5870x2.

Sorvos, i love stalker very much, but crysis has sandbox like levels where stalker is basically an open world game. There is a difference between the two. I prefer crysis and not because of its graphics i was playing it on medium for almost two years and it was and still is one of my favorites, and Ive played ALOT of games

ADTR-ZERO, they already haved dumbed down the graphics for the console versions, they have to or it wouldn't run at all

ADTR-ZERO i agree that you can't compare Killzone 2 and Crysis. but where did you get the idea that MGS4 looks as good as Crysis? you crazy!

    @ShootumUP26

I love Killzone 2, but I have to say that the graphics are very different. Crysis looks good, while on the other hand Kz2 has a hopeless gloom-and-doom look and feeling you can't get in any other game.

    The're to different to compare.

Crysis 2 is coming to consoles, and I doubt they will reduce the graphics.

no console game can come close to the might of crysis' graphics, and ive finnally got me a good enough pc to run it so it goes without saying that ive just ordered a copy, shame the aliens arent very good...

ShootumUP26 you overdose a little bit, nobody till today cant make such graphics like crysis, killzone 2 looks good, but you dont need to have sharp eyes to see what crysis running at full hd and max graphics is kicking asses for consoles graphic, farcry 2 is second after crysis no doubt, and i believe it will be like this until crysis 2 come out

I played this at all settings at high with 4x AA with a frame-rate of 30 FPS,
These are my specs : Nvdia 8800 GTX, Core 2 duo 6600 @ 2.6 and 3 gigs of Ram i was just wondering whether this was a good framerate compared to other systems.....

  • talonslash

    Posted Jul 12, 2009 10:08 pm PT

Just for those who are wondering, I ran this game on high settings, 1680X1050 with no anti-aliasing, also ran on high at 1280X720 with 2x anti-aliasing on an Athlon 5600+x2 with a Geforce 9800GTX and 4GB of RAM and was getting around 30-35 average fps. I realize that hardcore gamers (which I am) love to be able to run all games at max settings, but Crysis is one of those rare games that only those who can afford it can play it at that level. Of course with the continous fall of PC hardware component prices, that time is coming.

The game does look amazing however this story it's allready been told in games like Halo or Far Cry... still it is very well designed and definatelly raises the bar in terms of graphic detail. I played with the ATI Raddeon 4800 and tough i couldnt play it in Very High since that mode is only possible in windows vista still i got amazaed all the time by the beautifull landmarks. Very good game.
