EA secures Catwoman license

Electronic Arts announces that it has been awarded the worldwide rights to develop and publish games based on the upcoming Catwoman movie.

Electronic Arts today announced that it has been awarded the worldwide interactive rights to develop and publish games based on Warner Bros' upcoming Catwoman movie. Catwoman games for the GBA, PC, and all current-generation consoles are currently in development at the same EA UK studio responsible for its Harry Potter titles.

"Catwoman is a great complement to EA's portfolio of global blockbusters, and we look forward to delivering a great game based on the film," said Bruce McMillan, EA executive vice president of worldwide studios. "We're also happy to extend our relationship with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Comics."

"As we have enjoyed successful ventures with EA, we are looking forward to continuing the relationship with Catwoman," added Jason Hall, senior vice president of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. "The action, adventure, storyline, and characters in the film offer fertile ground for the development of compelling games."

EA's Catwoman games are currently scheduled for release alongside the movie this summer and will see players assuming the titular role. As Catwoman, players will have access to all of the character's catlike abilities, including acrobatically leaping across rooftops, pouncing on prey, running up walls, and swinging through the air with the aid of a whip. Players will visit seven different locations from the movie as they progress through the game.

"The dynamic visuals of Catwoman in action present an opportunity for a uniquely styled video game," said Paul Levitz, president and publisher of DC Comics. "We look forward to seeing how the wizards at EA translate the visual excitement of the film into their medium."
