Black Buccaneer sails forth
New action adventure game from France-based Widescreen Games explores darker side of being a pirate.
While games and movies that portray pirates as lovable, dashing swashbucklers sweep fans off their feet, German publisher 10tacle Studios is betting that there are some looking for a more sinister side. The company has announced plans to release a horror action game called Black Buccaneer.
The game follows a young sailor named Francis Blade, who is shipwrecked on his way to the Caribbean in the 16th century. After a skull-shaped amulet gives him the voodoo powers of the evil Black Buccaneer, Blade sets off in search of a legendary pirate treasure. The game takes place over 26 levels on nine worlds, and another playable character will join Blade at some point during the story.
Black Buccaneer will see release on the Xbox, PlayStation 2, and PC next spring.
