Micro Forte restructures

The Australian developer lays off some Fallout Tactics staff and refocuses efforts on the BigWorld massively multiplayer online game engine.

Micro Forte, the Australian development studio that created the upcoming strategy game Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel, has announced a corporate restructuring in which a portion of the Fallout Tactics team has been laid off. The company is refocusing its efforts on finalizing the BigWorld massively multiplayer game engine. According to the developer, publishing giant Interplay continues to be a strong supporter of the studio. Although no official announcements have been made regarding future games, Micro Forte is looking forward to working with the publisher on future projects.

Micro Forte will be demonstrating its BigWorld engine at the upcoming E3 show in Los Angeles this May. The company is currently in discussions with several publishers regarding the use of the game engine for licensing and game development by Micro Forte. We'll have more information about BigWorld as we get closer to E3. To find out more about Fallout Tactics, take a look at our in-depth previews of the game. Fallout Tactics is scheduled for release on March 20 for a suggested retail price of $49.99.
