the only issues i see with FPS games like Battlefield is that the maps are too big for the amount of players on it. especially with only 8 players on each side some battlefield maps can be pretty damn big that FPS players that are good at say Sniping, would find it difficult to get a high score when there are only so many targets available. i think its pretty damn cool to make a game that free to play and usable on most computers (now ive actually got something to do at work). but keep in mind that with bringing an MMO type thing into a game means you are going to have to make sure that it is well balanced. many MMOs in the past have gone down the drain cuz some classes are too overpowered and for some games certain builds become generic amongst players and that takes out the creativity of being your own "Hero." in the end what you dont want is everyone using the same weapon, same build and the same type of abilities. one example might be COD4, how many more times have you been killed by a guy with a P90 than someone with the Scorpion? chances are he had Bandoleer + Slight of Hand + Steady Aim. one of the reasons why TF2 was so successful was because it was well balanced, each class had a job that it was good at, they had their strengths and their weaknesses and at the same time the maps werent so huge that it would be difficult to find the enemy. i think the idea is awesome, customizable characters and a leveling up system looks great. the only thing worrying me is map size to player ratio and exploitations in the game design.

The guys at battlefield have really hit the nail on the head. This is what gamers want. No fees! Brilliant idea that you can unlock clothes. I'm really excited about this. The way forward for online games.

Stop complaining and just do some research. But I'll help you a little. Do you know why they have cartoony graphics? It's not because they saw TF2 and thought, wow cool we have to do a game with cartoony look too. No very, very wrong. As they said many times in this video they what this game to run on pretty much any PC and apeal to both casual and hardcore gamers. And to run a good looking game on a bad pc you need to have those cartoony looks. If they would try to get a realistic look they would need a lot of textures and shaders and other stuff that just sucks power and space out of your PC. They also try to make the downloadable file about 500 MB. That would not be possible even if they use the look of Battlefield: 1942 it just wouldn't. And because they try to get casual players to play their game cartoony looks is a great thing. I mean if casual players don't want a realistic, tactical and hard to play game a unrealistic, fun and easy to get into game would be the answer. So stop complaining about the game and try to see the game as the fun and cool game it really is. Just try it when open beta starts, it's free after all right? If you still don't like it just play another game. You don't have to say bad things about a game you've never tried. Ofcourse the comment section is about your impessions about the video but you don't have to say DICE has become mad they are the first ones in the western world trying this sucsessful new game type here. I should just have to say it's free and you should atleast be happy to try it out. Cause it's free!

(sigh) After about 15 seconds of the trailer, it was pretty clear to me that DICE is either bored silly or have nothing better to do than to take idiotic liberties with a franchise they've done pretty well with up to this point. What in the heck were they thinking? I for one, will not touch this game with a 10 foot pole. I skipped TF2 entirely because I didn't like the cartoonish graphics. This one is cartoonish AND stupid.

Just because it's free doesn't mean that quality goes out the window. I predict this game will be largely ignored by the gaming public.

this game has a lot of potential. I can't wait for it to come out. But i'll try

People should stop bashing the game. First of all is free, so don't complain about graphics. They're trying a new approach of income through ads. Secondly, it's far more accessible than most FPS, means there will be a large community playing it. And last but not the least try wait before it's released before condemning it, just because it's a more arcade version than the average battlefield game does not mean it will be bad. Heck, all Battlefield games for me don't have an inch of realism. Jet fighters flying terribly slow? Tanks being controlled by one man? Take it, what made battlefield so fun was the ability to turn complex realism of war into simple details in a game.

Finnly some gameplay! Thanks gamespot for showing this!!!!! I've about waited for this game a little over a year! Sure it's 3rd person and also the series is known for FPS but look past that and it fells like your playing TF2 (excludeing the gore).

p.s. DICE has no plans for a battlefield 3 yet.

I sure hope this is just an inbetween game to keep us busy until battlefield 3. 3rd person is not what made the franchise popular! Why does all the good games have to have a step back every once in a while? I agree completely with juztrax
