Realtime Worlds' open-world online shooter APB has languished in development limbo for years, with the development team surfacing only on a scant few occasions to provide an update on its progress. However, when Electronic Arts announced during this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo that it would be publishing the title through its EA Partners in spring 2010, a new sense of urgency sprang up about the title.

Taking one step closer to release, Realtime Worlds is now accepting applications from gamers interested in participating in APB's beta-testing phase. As detailed on the registration page, gamers are asked to fill out demographic and hardware specification details. Realtime Worlds did not indicate when it would begin sending out invitations to participate in the beta, saying only that the process would extend over the next few months leading up to release.

I'm also really hyped about this game. If there is one thing that sells me on a game it's the level of customization that it provides. To this day I still say City heroes/villains is one of my favorite games, just for that alone. And the promise of having the most customizable features yet to date in a video game is more than appealing to me. My only concern is that sending in an application so late (I just did it now) might mean they don't pick me. But I had one streak of good luck lately, so I'm thinking I might be on a roll! Here's hope'n.

Seems like it could be fun. Obviously it's an aqcuired taste. Just look GTA isn't that game-breaking, but there's some casually fun about running around wild in an open world city like that. It might be like GTA with enemies that actually think. I might wait for reviews, but it could be a fun casual game. Although I'm kinda losing my zeal with EA; seems they can't make anything but sports games. Well here's to hoping.
