GFi calls up the 4th Battalion

Futuristic action role-playing game announced in wake of acquisition of Russian developer, set for release next year.

Russia-based publisher Games Factory Interactive announced a new game from recently acquired developer MiST land - South titled 4th Battalion. The action role-playing game will be released for PCs in the beginning of 2006.

The game takes place in the far-flung future, a time when humanity has colonized the entire solar system and has, in the meantime, started a space war. Players are thrust into the mess as a squad leader in the game's namesake 4th Battalion, part of a Mars-based army that's attempting to restore order to the solar system. The game will feature advanced graphics, a nonlinear plot, and the ability for the player to create and control an army.

The game's announcement follows on the heels of GFi's acquisition of MiST land - South earlier this week. The fellow Russkies had previously collaborated on the PC RPG Paradise Cracked. MiST is also working on Jagged Alliance 3D for the PC.

Actually glad that this never got finished.
They really should be focusing their time and money on Jagged Alliance - A franchise that people actually want to see revived.
