- Jan 20, 2013 3:51 pm GMTThis game is actually getting localized in NA? I would like to take this moment to eat all the words of negativenancyism I said about NoA and their localization neglect. Seriously, I am just ******* shocked and I need to lay down.

LOL, most people probably thought you were right too! I, for one, am glad I was wrong about it not coming to NA. - Jan 20, 2013 7:37 pm GMTWell, if it helps to save your pride, XSeed is publishing it here, not Nintendo.

My name's Alvis.
Got it memorized? - Jan 20, 2013 11:51 pm GMTI thought this game would never get localized after the Wii U came out.

Yes I am very thankful for XSeed as well and I am going to try to pick up as much of their titles as I can just to support them - Feb 10, 2013 12:27 pm GMTAs gamers we should vote with our wallets and support those who deserve it.

I'm a promiscuous gamer; Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony, and none of them know I'm cheating on them. - Feb 11, 2013 2:17 pm GMTDon't give Nintendo any credit, if they had it their way, no one would have had any of these games.

Typical Project Rainfall fanboy feather ruffling. Nintendo didn't have some grand conspiracy to keep these games out of the hands of Americans because of xenophobia or whatever, they just (quite understandably) felt that the games would be poor sellers in the US, and had little chance of making back their investment. They only brought Xenoblade over when Gamestop agreed to help foot the bill, and the other games were left to third-party publishers. - Feb 12, 2013 7:28 am GMTDersu_Uzala posted...

Fanboy of.. What, exactly? Wanting to play a couple of games everyone already knew were good? I don't think you used that term appropriately at all.
And no, they weren't justified in the slightest. If we were talking some niche garbage, you might have a point. But Xenoblade is easily one of the very best Wii games, and while I'm not far into Pandora's Tower at the moment, it's also quite solid. When it comes down to it, we all quite nearly missed out on some very good games because Nintendo decided to drag their feet like idiots.
And they wonder why so many people complained about the Wii not having enough good games.
Edit: Also forgot to mention Europe took care of all of them, so America REALLY would've had no excuse, everything was done for them already.

A fanboy of the massive fan campaign to get three games localized. Xenoblade became virtually immune to criticism despite being a mediocre single-player MMO, because the fans had expended so much effort in pestering Nintendo to bring the game over that they needed to justify their enthusiasm and time investment. But Xenoblade is easily one of the very best Wii games
That's almost like saying that Kasumi Ninja is easily one of the very best Atari Jaguar games. And they wonder why so many people complained about the Wii not having enough good games.
Can you really blame them? The attach rate of software to hardware was something like 1.3 games. Most people never found out that it was anything more than a Wii Sports/Wii Fit machine. The Wii was downright poisonous to developers.Edit: Also forgot to mention Europe took care of all of them, so America REALLY would've had no excuse, everything was done for them already.
Except for manufacturing and shipping the game to retail outlets all over the country--no small task for a niche game in the gigantic US of A. - Feb 12, 2013 7:56 am GMTAlthough I am grateful for Project Rainfall and would proudly call myself a fanboy of them I wouldn't really blame Nintendo either.
Project Rainfall brought to Nintendo's attention that these games may not cost them money by bringing them to North America.
If anything I blame today's stereotypical gamer who wants nothing but the same FPS churned out to them every year that they've been playing for almost a decade and still willing to spend 60 plus dollars on each iteration. - Feb 12, 2013 8:06 am GMT

That's not even true anymore, though. Most people buy these games used or discounted, so publishers need to dangle limited editions and preorder-exclusive DLC in their faces, or at least encourage them to buy digitally, to have any hope of selling some copies at full price. - Feb 12, 2013 8:07 am GMTDersu_Uzala posted...

You fail at trolling.
The Wii attach rate is more than 7.

While it may be true that people are buying used more which results in less profit for the publisher/developers the fact that these particular set of games were not originally going to be released here is simply because they did not think there was a market for it. - Feb 12, 2013 8:55 am GMTI know. I was talking about identikit mainstream FPS/TPSes in particular.
Fans are much more likely to buy niche Japanese localizations new at full price. The problem is that there aren't enough of them anymore. JRPGs had a huge surge in Western popularity after FFVII, but it started to peter out midway through the PS2 era, and they had completely gone back to being niche games by the time of the PS3. (Ni no Kuni was a rare exception, thanks to Ghibli's involvement.) - Feb 12, 2013 9:40 am GMTDarkSoldierX99 posted...

Now they need to localize Ikenie No Yoru, Senran Kagura Burst, Unchained Blades Exxiv, and Zangeki no Reginleiv, and then s'all good.

http://www.youtube.com/user/98ihsananftwPH34R M4 4UTI-IORITY! -Largo, MEGATOKYO - Feb 12, 2013 10:58 am GMTXSeed said there's a chance of them bringing over Senran Kagura, but it would have to be a digital release because of its content. Even if they did an alternate cover art a la Catherine, I have a feeling few American retailers would want it on the shelf.
No loss if it doesn't make it, it's a mediocre musou buttton masher that covers up its shallow gameplay with boobies. - Feb 12, 2013 11:31 am GMTI'll certainly say Xenoblade left something to be desired in some capacities. I did virtually every last thing to do in that game, so I know the game in and out. That said, while the sheer number of sidequests was nice, I feel it would have been better had they just focused on quality rather than quantity. Though I had a very good time with the game, I don't see myself playing it again for a long, long time.
But to call it a bad game is just blatantly wrong. It's objectively one of the best console JRPGs this generation, as well as Wii games in general (Although admittedly neither of those titles are impressive in the slightest.) It's been out worldwide for quite awhile now, and is still very popular with all the pressure off.
