The second game i bought for the playstation and its still fun to pick up and play.

User Rating: 7.4 | Pandemonium! (Platinum) PS
Unlike so many other platformers at the dawn of the third dimention during the mid-90s Pandemonium stuck with the tried and tested side scrolling action fans had grown to love. This old-school style mixed with the variation, origional creativity and outright insane level designs and power ups give pandemonium a name-justifying appeal that is still fun to this day.

GAMEPLAY - The gameplay is similar to many of the platformers of the late 80s and early 90s, basically involving a linear level and jumping sections aplenty. There are power-ups such as the abilities to cast fireballs etc and abilities to morph into various animals. As level design goes, this game only really picks up about half way through as the levels become weirder and more origional.

GRAPHICS - Considering the games age the graphics are great, the backgrounds are detailed, colourful and well defined as are the many character/enemy models encountered along the way.

SOUND - Fantastic, the sound track to this game is brilliant and the other sound effects live up to the standard set by crystal dynamics in many of their other playstation titles.

VALUE - Pandemonium boasts about 18 levels if i remember correctly, these levels are long and the game can last for several hours, however the difficulty of some of the levels will have you repeating sections several times.

PROS - Two selectable characters with different abilities, no memory card required, great level design, fabulous sound track, just a genuinely fun game to play.

CONS - Use of passwords instead of a save function seems old fashioned, game can get tedious at parts not to mention the game is very unforgiving toward mistakes.

Pandemonium has aged quite well and should be recognised as a solid platformer, even by today's standards.
