Wow pretty spooky atmosphere reminding me of the first PAINKILLER and Monoliths BLOOD.

I wasnt expecting PAINKILLER RESURRECTION to be a great game but to my surprise it has delievered the supernatural goods once again. Almost right away i was reminded of the first PAINKILLER and Monoliths 3dgore shooter BLOOD from the 1990s. The players character even sounds exactly like Caleb and is dressed in cowboy garb though he is a modern day assassin :D
Gameplay is pretty much the same thing as in the previous games with plenty of old monsters making a comeback mixed with a variety of new ones. In other words its more of the same and thats a good thing especially if your a die hard fan like myself. Being the same isnt always a bad thing just look at MIGHT AND MAGIC 7 the same as 6 but with better graphics.
Levels are amazing and feel more vast then in previous games especially the cementary areas. Homegrown Games did a excellent job here and the special effects are really nice giving an off kilter sinister quality to everything. This is very noticeable in the cathedral area where lighting seems warped and transformed as if touched by evil. Then there is a church bell in one area which is broken not moving yet still rings with a disembodied shattered reality feel to it.
Music is stunning and some of the best i have ever heard in a horror themed shooter. It would go fantastic in many types of other game settings especially rpg dungeons. Its in mp3 format so i will definitely be giving a listen to this outside of gameplay aswell as using the music for such other games as MORROWIND, OBLIVION and FALLOUT 3. Yea i have a thing for Bethesda games ha ha.
There are some other very nice touches which i wont mention. Lets just say things wont feel so lonely in the horrific testing grounds of Purgatory etc.
As for game glitches i have yet to see any with settings pretty much maxed out with a resolution of 1280x1024.
For fans of the series who dont mind more of the same with a bit of new monster variety and new levels oozing with creepy gothic horror movie ambience i would definitely buy this and support the developers very satisfying work.
