Interview #7: Cousin_Eddy

Hello people. Has been a while i havent made a interview. Well here is our latest one. This time we interviewed cousin_eddy, leader of the metal union. Is a music union, which has been very active those last months. I will say is one of the best music related unions in gamespot. His leader has passed throught difficult situations but he has suceeded and beated all problems. Hope you enjoy this interview and thanks for reading!:

Before I answer these questions I must state that I am very honored I was chosen it means a lot that the success of the metal union is seen around GS and I am more then happy to post my answers. Happy posting, Paper

Why did you decide to make the metal union?

A: Well my leadership did not come at first. The original creator of the metal union was a user by the name of dstrbdslipsoad. I joined the metal union shortly after its creation and after a few years the original leader left gamespot and gave me the leader p[osition due to my immense activity and complete devotion to this union. The original leader created the union due to his mass love for metal and his knowledge of other GS users who loved metal.

What things do you do to keep the union active?

A: I do a lot of different things to make sure the union is alive and well. We have many band of the week polls and threads discussing favorite songs from a group, favorite albums and so on. There is also a genre of the month poll which involves a new banner each month and mass loads of thread to introduce people into new bands and to get tons of insight. I make sure to keep a lot of threads involving popular discussion made so people are hungry to come back. I don't see that ,uch in most unions.

Do you enjoy being a gamespot leader?

A: Yes I do. I actually run two unions (closing in on three) and though it is hard, strennuous work I do enjoy it, it gives you a sense of power and importance and if people like you, gives you a whole new level of respect. I do enjoy it very much but I would still be a happy metal union poster if I never became leader, my devotion goes that deep.

What has been the most difficult thing You had to do as leader?

A: For me it has been dealing with controversial comments made or getting in the middle of seriosu religious, musical or political debates. It has been difficult because when I had tot ake authoirty I would get a lot of insults from people, insults i did not care for and insults that cut to the core. But I still felt proud doing what I needed to do and because of it the metal union has become a much better, happier place to post.

In your opinion what is required to be an excellant leader?

A: Simple; total devotion. A great leader must do as much as they can to keep their union afloat, to keep it active and to make it creative as much as they possibly can.

What would you recommend to other gamespot leaders?

A: Get to know your union members because within them you can find not only great friends but reliable posters and good sources for topic ideas. Also get involved with your union on multiple levels, get a new design here and there, post news articles and find unique ways to encourage people to join and stay active.

Do you consider yourself someone important in gamespot?

A: My answer is actually right down the middle. In terms of the main boards I am nobody special because I have not done much to be well known around there. But in regards to unions I feel that I am pretty important because I not only run the number 1 music union on gamespot but I have helped keep some union members (and unions) active and did a lot to promote some unions outside of gamespot. I am not incredibely important but I do all I can to help out gamespot unions in need, especially the metal union

E3 Conferences 2009: Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony

Hello members of the TGADU. Here you can disscuss anythign related to the e3 conferences, microsoft, nintendo and sony. If you have any questions just ask I will make a brief summary of each conference. Enjoy!

Microsof seems like it was one of the best conferences of all. I wa completely blown away with their very impressive line-up.

First of all, we may see a new halo game. According to the conference is goinG to be released in 2010. We NEED to wait a lot, but i'm sure all halo fans are happy; Modern Warfare 2 live game-play and the announcement that there will be two Xbox exclusive map packs.

. Alan Wake game-play showcased--due spring 2010.

. Splinter Cell: Conviction live game-play--it looks great!

. Other games, that will be released are Forza Motorsport 3, Crackdown 2, Final Fdantasy 13 showcased, The Beatles: Rock Band premiere, FaceBook and Twitter to hit LIVE in the fall., Metal gear Solid: Rising revealed (will tell Raidin's story).

There are going to be lot of new features!. Motion sensing camera that doesn't require a controller. Includes voice recognition and the ability to scan stuff onto your Xbox (you really need to google thi because it's awesome).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nintendo Conferencce

As everyone knows, today the Nintendo E3 conference took place in London. Lot of new, different games were announced during this show: 3 different Mario games, a Metroid game, and a host if WiiWare announcements.

During the first 15 minutes of the conference, the Super Mario Bros. Wii game was announced! It's very similar to the DS version; 2D bright visuals, with four player co-op. Later the Wii Fit Plus was revealed. A Locker Room enables you to become your own personal trainer, and there will be 6 different types and 15 mini games, including skateboarding, and perfect ten, where hips will be moved to add numbers to ten. Will be available by the end of the year.

Wii Sports Resort is revealed too! You can play golf, basketball, archery, frisbee and more! Will be released on Jully 26, in the United States. There are other games that were revealed, such, as final fantasy the crystal bearers(septermebr 29), red steel 2, tiger woods PGA tour 10, virtua tennis 200, etc.

A little later, Mario & Luigi 3: Bowser's Inside Story was presented. Mario, Luigi and Peach are now in Bowser's belly; they must find a way on how to get out of his belly. According to the conference, the game will be released at the end of the year.

Besides all those games, there are some other games that were revealed, Golden Sun DS, Donkey Kong vs Mario: Mini's March Again, which is a downloadable game. Will be available on June 8. WarioWare: DYT, Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, which still doesn't has a specific date. (EDIT ~Cloud~: According to vgreleases.com, it is slated for release in December of this year)

One of the biggest games that surprised me, was Super Mario Galaxy 2! Now you can use Yoshi; you can see giant Goombas, and different enemies, better graphics and quality. Also a new Metroid game was revealed. This historic game will take you to Samus' story.

Well, this is it. Hope you enjoyed this conference. Most of it was boring, but it seems we will have lot of excellent games this year. Thanks for reading.

Interview #6: Cloud_765

Hello people, this week interview wa with cloud_765, leader of the all around nintendo union. Has been working very hard to make this union one of the best in gamespot. Has around 60k views in less of 2 months with 200 members. Keep working with your great leadership Enjoy now!:

Describe Yourself:
Well, I dunno how to really answer this. I'm a nerd. I play a lot of video games and watch anime. I like walking. I'm pretty short, and I look younger than I really am, which is 17. Many say I look 13. In real life I'm fairly shy. Unless I am talking to a friend, I have trouble talking to people and looking at them. I've always had trouble uttering the words "I Love You" to anyone or anything. I don't really think I've felt love. But I try to enjoy myself when I can, and like anyone, I go through the different emotions and just try to keep looking forward. It's hard to do when you feel alone, but I think I'm content with my life right now.

Why do you decide to make the All-Out Nintendo union?
Around the end of March, I had a sudden urge to lead something. No one thinks I have what it takes to be a leader and so many people in real life think I would fail. I always step aside because everyone likes the feeling of stepping all over me. And I wanted to make a Nintendo union the way I wanted one. I can be a selfish person sometimes, but I had decided shortly after entering the DS RPG Union, that I wanted to be a leader and prove that I was capable of being a leader. And here I am, 7 weeks into my union, with more than 230 members, constantly recruiting new ones, and having a blast.

What things do you do in your union to keep it active?
I'm always going out and finding new potential members, hoping to keep the union up. I gather many different users' ideas and I make new threads and such myself. I let people do their own thing, and I always make sure there's a new update every few days. I had this idea, which was inspired by SonicSpot, to have telegrams, because I knew telegrams would keep members coming back. And with all the new activities going on, I try to make sure everything is able to move along smoothly. I always do maintenence work to make sure the union is updated, but above all, I really just try to make sure people stay interested. All-Out has its ups and downs, but I think we're finding our niche.

Do you enjoy being a leader?
Sometimes, I do think I shouldn't have thrown myself into making a union, because with everyone, you have to be able to make sure they're all satisfied, and not everyone can be satisfied the same way. I sometimes wish I wasn't a leader because it's difficult handling people when they feel really troubled, but overall, I don't regret making my union. I have my times of happiness and I have my times of sorrow, but overall, I think my union, when it is active, has always put a smile on my face, and I really think there's no turning back. I've put myself in this position, and I think the best thing for me would be to just have fun with it.

What has been the most difficult thing you made as a leader?
The most difficult thing I made... Hmm. As in having to actually make something, I think the hardest part would be making the tags. It's hard trying to make something people will like, but I think making the tags and definitely the banners would be difficult. But in terms of something I had to do as a leader, it was probably when I had to talk to Enl100. There was a day when he thought everyone hated him and was going to report All-Out, and I panicked, because everything that me and all my members at the time were going to end up for nothing, and I needed him to know that it wasn't just me that he would be angering would he have done it. He would have caused a backlash. I felt bad for him because he was recieving hate mail, and my entire union didn't know who, but thankfully Juniorpower and World-Ender were with me to calm him down. It's always been difficult being a leader, but I think the important thing is to look ahead.

In your opinion what is required to be an excellent leader?
Understanding. If you can't learn to see through all sides of a situation, and you try doing things just your way, you will ultimately fail. You need to be able to get along with people and see their side of the argument if they are unhappy. But it isn't just that. If you aren't active, and no one knows who the leader is because of it, the union tends to lose its prescence. What matters most though is being able to work hard for your union and to care for it accordingly. I see so many unions dead because the leader simply doesn't care about it enough. To lead a union, you have to have a passion for the type of union you are leading. I love Nintendo. It was only natural I would make a Nintendo union. My message is, whatever your passion is, you should make a union for it. Understanding and care is what makes a union successful through leadership.

Wanna show any important data or statictics of your union in this interview?
Sure. I started the union on April 9th. And thanks to Grim_Heaper94 and World-Ender-49, who have been in my union since I asked them to be charters, I got it up within a few days, whereas I had sent the invites on the 5th or 6th. Just a month and a half later, my union has more than 230 members, and has gotten more than 65000 views. It's also got almost 17000 posts, and I have been quite proud to be the leader of such a great union. With everyone banding together, the union has gotten bigger each day, and our next goals are to get 300 members and 100000 views. I'm sure you'll see that happening within the next weeks.

What do you recommend to other GameSpot leaders?
It's hard for me to say. I haven't been a leader all that long, but in my opinion, I say that union leaders should aim for success and stay active. I recommend leaders of unions that are friends to keep in touch. Leaders should give input on how to help each other's unions. It's a team effort; no one person can keep a union together. And above all, make sure to have fun with it. Why bother leading a union that you don't enjoy? Am I right?

I can't wait to see this put up

This is it, expect new games this next week and please continue been active. Thanks cloud and see ya around!

What has been the most difficult thing you had made as a leader?

Choosing officers is hard but the hardest thing was taking a dead union and turning it into a better one ..another hard thing was closing down my first ever union i didnt have time to think about it so i just went and deleted everything and started from scratch and taht was hard

Interview #3: Bak1234567890

Hello members This week interview was with bak123456789, leader of the great nintendo union, which is one of th ebiggest nintendo union in gamespot history. It has around 1 year and half od born and right now in the present is still active. Bak has been a great gamespot member and leader, congratz Here it is:

Descrition about yourselft

Not much to say here , i'm 15 years, mexican and love futbol (soccer). I also like videogames, especially Nintendo and my favorite character is Yoshi. I like being on GameSpot and posing in unions.

What things do u make to keep your uniona ctive?

What i do to keep my union active is invite members that i think will like the union, make the union look good with new topics, contests and anything i can think to improve it. I also send telegrams for members to know what has happened in the union and i organize the union board and stay active myself. I would have to say that is just part of the work, the rest is done by officers and recruits who help the union and stay active.

Dou enjoy been a gamespot leader

Yes i have always liked unions and being leader makes me proud of it. And i like to know and talk to everyone in the union, and posting in an active union, i dont know why but it just feels good

What has been the most difficult thing you had made as a leader?

Demoting officers is always the hardest thing to do. I have done it a few times when i already had the max. number of officers allowed and some officers were not active anymore. I had to choose 6 of them that were of my best friends in GameSpot and demote them (really felt bad about that). And then promoting officers is another hard thing, you have to choose the best ones carefully and at the same time not choose too many of them... I spend like 3 months thinking on who to promote

In your opinion, what things requires to be an excellent leader

Everything helps a little. Being active in the union, being friendly with all the members, inviting new members, making original and fun events for members and give a good presentation to your union. I think that's what makes a good leader and if you do that, your union will be active.

what do you recommend to other gamespot leaders

Pretty much what i said in the previous question Stay active in the union, think of good ideas for it, make threads, and most important of all never give up

Gamespot Leader Interview #2: Colmillios

Hello everyone, this is our second interview in this u nion. This week interview was with colmillios, leader of the Naruto Union, oen of the biggest and active unions in gamespot. Enjpoy

Descrition about yourselft

.First off I am a happily married girl who is married to a wonderful Airman. I am always on GS pretty much everyday so if you ever need to ask a question or you want to chat just PM me. And I am a BIG Uchiha fan, I will always have either Sasuke or Itachi in my profile somewhere you can count on that. ^_^ Here is some info about me of games, and anime I enjoy. Favorite Games: Kingdom Hearts, Resident Evil, Guitar Hero, Naruto Rise of A Ninja, and Tomb Raider, and Devil May Cry 4, Naruto: The Broken Bonds Favorite Animes: Naruto and Death Note Favorite Characters from video games and animes: ~Kingdom Hearts: Riku, Axel, and Sora ~Naruto - Itachi, Sasuke, Hidan, Naruto and Deidara ~Death Note - Mello, L, and Ryuk I also enjoy making designs, and making videos. A lot of the time people ask me about my username this is what it means. It is the Spanish word for fangs, also I got the name from the dogs in Resident Evil 4.

What things do u make to keep your uniona ctive?

2. Things that I do to keep my union...well recruits and officers help me out a lot with that. I mean I do come up with contests and games for us to play every once in a while but that is just one small part. Having interesting non typical topics help out as well, for example everyone has seen Who's Your Favorite so and so topics those are always the same and boring. But coming up with topics that you can have more of discussion about makes the thread stay alive a lot longer. I mean I am just one little part of keeping a union active, plus it also helps that whatever your union is about is something that is on going and that everyone really enjoys. I mean right now I am leader of two Naruto based Unions. And one is way active then the other, but one has been around a lot longer and also it is one of the top most viewed unions in Gamespot. So that helps out with having a active union as well.

Dou enjoy been a gamespot leader

Yes I do enjoy being a leader, it might be a lot of work at times. But hearing the positive feedback you get from recruits and officers makes the job worth while.

What has been the most difficult you had made as a leader?

Well at one time I was leader of 3 unions I had my two Naruto based unions and then I had a Kingdom Hearts Union as well. The Kingdom Hearts was my very FIRST union I was leader of, it was the union that I made myself. The other two I got promoted by the leader to get those unions. Anyways the Kingdom Hearts Union was really dead, no one was posting and I had pretty much moved on from Kingdom Hearts. So I decided to give my union to a friend that had been wanting a union of his own and he ended up changing it up into a Anime based union. So that would have to be the most difficult decision I have made of giving up a union.

In your opinion, what things requires to be an excellent leader

he requirements of being a good leader are really simple you need to be dedicated to the union. To many times I have seen good unions go to waste just because the Leader is not active enough. I think a lot of people take the position of leader for granted, if you are not active then your officers and recruits stop posting and then the whole union suffers from this. Also being opened minded to all kind of ideas well help you in the long run with help making the union active. So in the end try being more active, try coming up with ideas, and try not to put so much pressure on yourself as well. That is what your officers are there for, if you feel like you have to much on your plate then try and get the officers in on some duties to help you out.

what do you recommend to other gamespot leaders

As for other GS leaders, my last part of the previous answer is a good start. Be active if you are not the union suffers, I mean your officers can only do so much but in the end they can't do it all. Some times doing feedback or suggestion topics can be a good idea to find out if recruits or officers have ideas for the union that you haven't come up with. Also it is good to always know if you think you can't be leader anymore of a good person that you know will keep the union going even after you leave. But unions are all about having FUN! You need to try your best to make it where people always have fun and enjoy posting on the board.
