Japanese fans fights back with ownership

http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_league_stew/post/Japanese-fans-bear-hug-Bobby-Valentine-refuse-t?urn=mlb,165333

Fans of the Chilba Lotte Marines are actually collaboration to keep their manager - a skipper who just happens to be ex-Met manager Bobby Valentine.

Despite managing Chilba for seven seasons, including a Japanese Series title in 2005, Valentine has been told by team officials he won't be back for the 2010 season because they can't afford to extend his $3.9 million contract. The decision has sparked an outcry from Chilba fans, who have come to see Valentine as not only a good manager, but a fan favorite.

Will Tim Wakefield be a Hall of Famer?

Tim Wakefield, the right handed knuckleballer is currently ranks third on the Red Sox all time wins list at 168, behind Cy Young and Roger Clemons, who are tied at 192. At 42 years old, he will never get to 200 wins, but in this day and age of the 5 starter rotation, the odds of us having pitchers getting 200 wins are getting harder and harder, and 300 wins--you can forget that. We now have to start looking at other things..i.e intangbles. He still has some very impressive stats.

As of today (5/18/09)

182 wins currently

4 -- 16+ wins seasons

1934 strikeouts currently

32 complete games

22 saves

4.32 career ERA

Record 5-7 in postseason

No all-star appearances

1992 Sporting News National League  Rookie Pitcher of the Year

1995 Sporting News American League Comeback Player of the Year

2X World Series Championships (Boston Red Sox)

Ranks 75th in All time strikeout list

Ranks 12th on list of most hits batsman by MLB pitcher

Earned 2 player of the week honors

No Cy Young Awards, but came in 3rd in 1998 and was second in wins in 2007 (17) before injury in September forced him to mist reason on season.

He is the only MLB pitcher to carry 8 no-hitter games into the 7th inning in his career

Pitched a career high 12k's in one game (9/11/2005)
