As a part of the ongoing process to overhaul the GRU and to clean up the union boards, the GRU Lounge has gone a complete makeover. There are now less stickies, and the entire interface is generally more streamlined, in order to make navigation easier. New users in particular should be able to find all information that they need more easily now.

All important threads that were once stickied have now been unstickied (except for a few), and are all linked in the GRU 2.0 Union Directory. All members must make it a point to regularly check the directory- essentially, it has every single important thread that you might need access to. Please use the threads that have already been provided by the directory, and don't create new ones. This will save unneeded clutter.

To all recruits who aspire to be officers of the Union, this is the perfect opportunity to get that tag. GRU presents the first of its kind Temporary Officers of the Union contest, which will allow deserving recruits to be an officer for upto 28 days.

All recruits will automatically be considered for Temporary Officership, as long as they fulfill the following criteria:

1) A recruit must be at least 14 days old before he/she will be considered for Temporary Officership.

2) A recruit must have, in this period, posted at least one review on the union.

Yes, and that's it... that's all you have to do to be eligible to be an officer! More details follow:

THE FINE PRINT:

1) Recruits will be selected on the basis of the Officers+Leader Council's evaluations, assessments, recommendations, nominations and voting. A certain majority must be achieved for both, nomination as well as selection, before a recruit shall be awarded office.

2) A recruit who is selected shall hold office for a minimum of fourteen (14) days and a maximum of twenty eight ( 28 ) for one term. A recruit may be selected for up to two consecutive terms.

3) A recruit who is awarded office shall be expected to maintain his activity levels on the basis of which he was selected. These activities must at least tangentially be related to reviewing.

4) A Temporary Officer shall be evaluated at the end of every week by the Officers+Leader Council. If his activity levels are found to be below reasonable expectations, he may be stripped of his office before his term is over.

THE BENEFITS:

Well, apart from the fact that you get to be an officer for the Union, you mean? There's loads of benefits! Read on...

1) A Temporary Officer has all the powers that a permanent officer does. During the period a Temporary Officer holds office, nothing distinguishes him from the other officers of the union.

2) A recruit who is selected to be a Temporary Officer will automatically be nominated for the Member of the Week contest that shall follow immediately after his taking up office.

3) Finally, if a Temporary Officer manages to complete his/her term succesfully, then he/she will be eligible for Permanent Officership of the union after a set amount of time!

Hello, members of the Reviewers Union,

First of all, the union's been really active! Great work, everybody!

Ok, I sent this telegram to you guys to notify you of some changes that have been made in the Weekly Polls. Firstly, I will be managing them from now on, not SGTiD1NG0. Of course, that doesn't matter.

Apart from that, in the RotW polls, we will now have 7-8 nominees every week, and instead of having a poll, I will be listing all the nominations in the first post for you guys to see. All you have to do is tell us, via your comments, who you want to vote for out of those who've been listed in the post, and I'll take care of the tallying.

This will give you more options to chose from, and make the competition more representative and open, giving all members a chance to be included in the poll and maybe even win!

Hello, people. This post is regarding the overhaul of out our union. Recently, Michael (SGTiD1NG0) and Greg (gdw0908 ) implemented many new ideas to make the union more simple to use and user-friendly. Those changes are listed out and explained below.

1. The first change is about the Libraries (as usual). The Libraries have been deleted, modiefied, updated and posted again. The Libraries aren't sticky threads anymore, as they used to take up a lot of space and cluttered and messed up the Union Board. Now, they're all un-stickied and locked, and they have been lnked in a thread named "Union Directory" (I'll come to that later). 

2. The Union Directory- Many of the threads which used to be stcky, like the Library threads mentioned above, have been un-sticked and locked, so it's a fact that it would become very difficult to find them. So, for your convenience, we have created a Union Directory, where you will find the links to all the threads you might need to go to but are not sticked, like the Previews and Features Library, the Catalogs,the Rules and other miscelleneous threads. You can go to the Union Directory by clicking here.

3. The Suggestion Box- Our new leader, gdw0908 has created a Suggestion Box, where any of us can go and pool in our suggestions for the Union. All suggestions will be voted on by the officers of the union - requiring a vote of 50.0%+ of voting individuals to pass. Once passed, this will be implemented within 7 days of approval. All approvals will be voiced and presented in this topic. You can go to the Suggestion Box by clicking here. 

4. Member and Review of the Week Archive- Every week, after the weekly Member of the Week and Review of the Week polls will be closed, they will also be deleted. Their results will be posted in the Member and Review of the Week Archive, where all MotW and RotW results till date have been posted. This Topic will be updated every week. You can go to the Member and Review of the Week Archive by clicking here.

5. New Review Threads- We feel that restricting reviewing to only games can get a bit boring sometimes, so, to expand our horizons, and to keep everything fresh and new, AND to keep our beloved members more interested and active, the following Review Threads have been created-

• Film Reviews Thread- In this thread, you can post all your film reviews. You can go to the Film Reviews Thread by clicking here.  
• Book Reviews Thread- In This thread, you an post all your book reviews. You can go to the Book Reviews Thread by clicking here.
• Gaming Hardware Reviews Thread- In this thread, you can reviewall gaming consoles, peripherals, add-ons... basicall, anything that is NOT a game. You can go to the Gaming Hardware Reviews Thread by clicking here.
• Gaming Peripheral Reviews Thread- In this thread, you can review anything related to games, except hardware (because there's a different thread for that).You can go to the Gaming Peripheral Reviews Thread by clicking here.

These threads are not sticky threads, but all of these have been linked in the Union Directory.

6. Reviews in Progress- In this thread, you can have a look at your friends' Reviews Calender, which reviews they will be writing in the upcoming days, which reviews they have completed, when their reviews will be completed, and which reviews they are writing right now. This thread can be updated by all officers to add their own calenders in the Original Post, but recruits will have to post their calenders in comments, so that officers can edit the post later on and add their calenders. You can go to the Reviews in Progress Thread by clicking here. This thread has also been linked in the Union Directory.

7. New leader- The leaderof our union has been changed from SGTiD1NG) to gdw0908. SGT was a great leader, and we'll miss his leadership, but Gdw's doing a great job so far, and we wish him all he best! SGT quit because he wasn't able to give much time to the union. Ironically, though,he's become active as hell ever since he has resigned as the leader.
