Winnipeg Arena, built in the 1950s, was home to the Winnipeg (now Moose Jaw) Warriors of the WHL, the Winnipeg Jets (now Phoenix Coyotes) of the WHA and NHL, and the Manitoba Moose of the IHL and AHL. I have to imagine this was a hugely emotional day for Winnipeggers, given the history and glory that once graced "the Old Barn." Unfortunately, someone wasn't thinking when they built the MTS Centre with only 15,000 seats: like the Winnipeg Arena, it's just too damn small, even if it does have luxury boxes. A modern NHL arena needs at least 18,000 seats, and unless there's a renovation waiting in the wings as part of an NHL franchise bid, I don't see it happening. Sorry, Winnipeg.
