Latest Updates

This is not a joke. Team Ninja is integrating Sixaxis controls into Sigma 2 in ways that will disgust us with any maturity and amuse to no end those who lack any sense of dignity. Players will be able to use the Sixaxix to, politely put, manipulate the breasts of the heroines. It remains to be seen if this will apply to all 3 female leads, or how much controversy will follow suit.

We learn some new information in the latest Qore issue on PSN about Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. Mainly benefits for getting Sigma 2 -- such as:
- Being able to Izuna with every single weapon.
- Manga loading screens!
- You earn a gold health bar after beating Master Ninja. This bar can also be shown off in online Co-Op.

Gamestop's Ninja Gaiden II collector's edition left a lot to be desired. It featured a substandard making of and... uh, that was pretty much it. But wait. In comes Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2's premium box. It includes a soundtrack cd, original accessory set and a special sleeve. On top of that, if your wind path skills are adept enough, preordering will also net you a guide book.
The premium box seems to be a Japanese exclusive and comes at a steep price: roughly $ 110. If importing is not your thing or that pricepoint is just too much, keep in mind that Gamestop is releasing a collector's edition of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 as well. Just don't expect too much from the latter.

Yes, the CEO of Tecmo Koei is politely asking Sony to reduce the price of their current-gen hardware to bolster sales. Seems they may have more to release for the system than Sigma 2 and DW, or maybe they just want those games to sell more.

Team Ninja was present at a London press event this weekend. Of course Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 has to be brought up. Reason enough for GameSpot UK to put up a video of some Momiji slice and dice action. From the looks of it, you'll be able to get your hands on her early on in the game. Makes sense, I guess. Enjoy!

A short, sweet little update amidst the post-E3 drought. A demo of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is bound to hit the Playstation Network in September, with the full game's release planned this autumn.

The cover has finally been released for Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. Strangely it doesn't seem to be the overall image people care about, it's the "Only On Playstation" tag that's grabbing goats.

And here I was starting to be afraid that Tecmo lost sight of DOA. One split second later, they resurrect Kasumi on the iphone. Not as everyone's favorite fighting game heroine though. No, she is put in the middle of a game of blackjack, and the better you perform, the more costumes you'll unlock for her. One bikini coming up!

Team Ninja lead Yosuke Hayashi took time off during E3 to sit down with Ricardo Torres and explain some of the new things we can expect in the upcoming Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. As we already know, the gore has been toned down. Instead of blood spraying everywhere, there will be more fancy effects.
Apparently some people had trouble finding their way in Ninja Gaiden 2. They have to fear no more, as pressing the R1 button in Sigma 2 will let Ryu tilt his head in the right direction. It's a subtle take on the mechanic introduced in Dead Space, and shows that the path of the ninja is one of enlightenment.

Bayonetta director Hideki Kamiya isn't interested in Ninja Gaiden. It doesn't have the power to pull him in. Neither does he care about Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2's co-op. Both statements were made during a 1UP interview. 1UP also happens to be Tomonobu Itagaki's Western outlet, and what better opportunity for him to have a little go at Bayonetta in a 1UP-interview himself?
Itagaki about Bayonetta: "If I made a similar game as a game I made in the company I quit, people would say, "What an idiot, can't he make anything else?" Well, that is more or less the opinion I have for, uh, that Bayo-something game."
And, to spice things up even more, Itagaki about Bayonetta's main character and the fact that she is covered in hair: "Covered in hair, is she? I dunno, Mr. Kamiya must have a lot going through his head. Well, in any case, I would first recommend laser eye surgery. I'm sure he's not that strapped for cash, right?"
The whole Itagaki interview can be read here. I guess we can add Bayonetta to Itagaki's hate list, right next to Okami, but still behind Tekken 1-6.
Look who got spotted at Microsoft's VIP room during E3 2009. Long black hair, poker glasses, dark clothes... It's Itagaki alright, and he seems to be a busy man as always. Thanks to Gamekult reporter Yukishiro for pointing this one out.
One big surprise coming out of Nintendo's E3 press conference is a new Metroid game that will dig deeper in Samus' history. So what? It's being co-developed by Team Ninja, that's what! The first footage already shows a big focus on combat, but there still seems to be room for the typical Metroid platforming as well in a snazzy-looking 2.5D environment. Completely new are the anime cutscenes. The game is called Metroid: Other M and it's up for a 2010 release. GameSpot's soundless E3 trailer is down below. Users that want the benefit of sound, can click here to watch the trailer directly at Nintendo's E3 site.

And here we were left thinking that Ryu, Ayane and Momiji already were more than a handful. Not enough of a handful for Team Ninja it seems, because they are throwing Rachel into the mix as well. Not only does she become a playable character in the upcoming Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, but she gets a new weapon as well. Fetishists can get their fill with this new trailer that happens to be quite high on Rachel.

I don't know where Team Ninja got the idea, but apparently they must have thought it a neat thing for Ryu to get his own bfg in Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. Maybe it is because up until now, rocket launchers have really been a pain in the *** for Ryu wannabees. With Ryu effectively getting a hold of a rocket launcher as well, the odds are evened out.

We already knew about Ayane being a playable character in Sigma 2, but now we finally get to see her in action for an extended period. With the picturesque nighttime Venice stage as a silent witness, Ayane is revealed as a fast moving hit and run assassin character. Double tanto wielding, explosive shurikens, destructive purple ninpo and aerial finishers are what personify her in her killing spree run. Head over to GameTrailers to watch her in action. Not once, but twice.
It's almost been a year since we have heard from Itagaki, kinda sad right? Well, he's back and he seems to be in a very happy mood.
Check out this interview to see what he's up to recently.
Let's just say a new era has begun.
Video game site Kikizo likes Team Ninja games. A lot. Itagaki-san was one of their favorite interview partners, and now it's time for his successor to spill the beans on Sigma 2 and the future of Team Ninja in this interview.
It starts off rather disappointing for those who would like to see Sigma 2 appear on Xbox 360, and Hayashi-san also magically talks his way around both Project Progressive and Code: Cronus. In the end it's all sweet though because Ninja Gaiden II no longer seems to be the final game in the series.

Yes, the ESRB clearly has nothing better to do. They have demanded Microsoft to remove the original Ninja Gaiden II TGS trailers from all online sources or face penalties. The basis for this demand seems to be that at the time the trailer was released the game was rated RP and the final product got an M.
If you don't have this trailer stored somewhere you have until the afternoon of 04/25/09 to download it. Honor the heritage of this game and keep this trailer. You can still find it at sites like gamevideos and gametrailers.
