NCsoft and Cryptic Studios have released the newest expansion to City of Heroes, Issue 10: “Invasion” where City of Heroes and City of Villains players join forces to thwart an attack by the evil Rikti aliens bent on the destruction of the Earth.

NCsoft is at this year's Comic-Con in San Diego, and IGN has the full scoop: "If you want PC games and you're at San Diego Comic-Con, you won't find many places better equipped than NCsoft's booth."

Starting on Tuesday, July 17th, the Training Room Test Server will have two new game features enabled for testing: Character Transfer and Character Rename, for City of Heroes and Villains players.. Character Transfer will allow customers to move characters from one server to another. Character Rename will allow customers to rename a selected character. Both of these features are not part of Issue 10: Invasion. Although we are beginning to test them, we anticipate that they will not be enabled on the live service until after the launch of Issue 10.

NCsoft and ArenaNet announced today that the prerelease bonus pack for Guild Wars: Eye of the North is set to arrive on retailers' shelves on July 20 and will include a host of compelling features, including exclusive in-game items and access to the Guild Wars: Eye of the North Sneak Peek Weekend set for later this summer.

NCSoft announces that the title will be shut down at the end of this summer; current subscriber accounts will be "reconciled."

It's been two years since Guild Wars players first witnessed the Searing blaze across Ascalon and watched in horror as Prince Rurik fell during the refugee pilgrimage across the Shiverpeaks. Now, in Guild Wars: Eye of the North, Tyria's heroes must return to fight an epic battle with an ancient evil that may well spell the end of the Age of Mankind.

This month, PC Gamer features a 3 page preview of Richard Garriott’s Tabula Rasa. Chuck Osborn from PC Gamer praised it as one of the most accessible and ambitious MMO’s he’s played with the potential to stand as one of Garriott’s best works.

Having apparently run out of old television shows to remake, Hollywood is now hell-bent on scooping up film rights to games. Though the Halo adaptation is on indefinite hold, Prince of Persia is being fast-tracked by megaproducer Jerry Bruckheimer. After a brief stay in development limbo, the Spy Hunter movie is back on the road, although the World of Warcraft film remains a ways off.

Today came word that another massively multiplayer online role-playing game will be headed for the big screen. According to today's Variety, producer Tom DeSanto has acquired the rights to NCsoft and Cryptic Studios' City of Heroes. According to the trade, he was interested in the 2004 game because it and its 2005 sequel City of Villains pit superheroes against aliens and offer a ready-made stable of characters.

"I see this as the next big superhero franchise," said DeSanto, who produced X-Men and the forthcoming Transformers. He reportedly will first make the film into a motion picture, which, if successful, will beget a television series.

Richard Garriott's Tabula Rasa is now featured in a three-page preview in the July 2007 issue of PC Gamer, hitting subscribers' mailboxes and newsstands now. The preview can be found on pages 46-48, including a sidebar article detailing two of the eight Tier 4 character classes, the Grenadier and Engineer.
