Jim Hnatiuk - Leader of the Christian Heritage Party Communiqué Vol 24, No 01 June 30, 2009
In the 1920s, Canadian women fought for the right to vote; fought to be recognised as a person; fought for equality in the eyes of the law. They won! Are women less than 100 years later prepared to forfeit this equality? I'm sure I can hear resounding, "No's," from across the country. Yet, this is exactly what is happening.
The government of Canada, by not outlawing the burka, is catapulting women in Canada to the pre 1920s, when the women's suffrage movement was fighting the Supreme Court of Canada to be recognized as persons, for their right to equal enfranchisement, and to be heard.
The National Post, June 27, 2009, reported, "The federal government has quietly dropped plans to ban veiled voting in national elections.... Since coming out in favour of such a ban two years ago, all three opposition parties have recanted under pressure from politically correct special interests."
Can this be true? No ban on veiled voting....even though two years ago, they clearly knew it was the right thing to do? This is not only an affront to women, but to liberty, and our stable democracy. CHP Canada calls on the government and parliament to prevent this undermining of Canada's stellar, world-renowned electoral system. The credibility of our elections rests on Canadians' right to know that every registered voter has been clearly identified as the individual presenting themselves at the poll.

The party is too small; and they'll never win, and you'll end up splitting the Liberal vote! Has anyone ever told you that about the NDP?
I lived in British Columbia when the NDP won their first election in 1972 under Dave Barrett. The NDP passed a great deal of legislation in a very short time, but the one I remember best is the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia. Automobile safety inspections became a government 'drive through.'
Today, on the opposite coast, Nova Scotia is voting. All predictions indicate that I'm now going to witness the NDP's takeover of Nova Scotia. The memory of, "Don't vote NDP because it'll split the left, we have to get the Liberals in," rings even louder today.
Most of us probably don't agree with the socialist-secularist position of the NDP; but they deserve credit for uncompromisingly sticking to their socialist guns.
Social conservatives across Canada need to know that the Christian Heritage Party will continue to stick to our guns, and uncompromisingly so. We must! We're Canada's only real hope.
How many of us have heard or possibly said ourselves: "The CHP is too small, doesn't run enough candidates; they'll never win!"

"Yesterday, upon the stair, I met a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today, Oh how I wish he'd go away!" ("Antigonish" William Hughes Mearns")
While a phantom problem may be laughable in poetry, it's not a laughing matter when it comes to government taxation of Canadians.
26 May, 2009, CBC News reported that: "Thousands of Canadian workers who purchased stock options from their employers before the market downturn are expected to pay millions of dollars in taxes on income they haven't received because the shares have lost their value."
A little-known Canadian tax law requires Canadians to pay income tax on the market value of stocks when they are issued -- not on their lesser value if they are later sold at a lower price. Those affected call it a tax on "phantom income."
The complexities and unfairness of our current income tax laws penalise hard working and unsuspecting Canadian employees who simply wanted to invest for the future. Tax lawyer, William Cooper, thinks Ottawa should allow people to claim their losses against the 'income.' (CBC)
But Finance Minister Jim Flaherty indicated Ottawa has no plan to help affected taxpayers. "The tax laws apply to all of us equally," Flaherty said. "... So, I can't and I won't hold out any hope of any tax exemptions in respect to that."
There are no 'bail-outs' for the average, everyday, working Canadian.
The CHP does not support bail-outs, but we do believe that the tax laws should be simple and transparent. This is yet another example of why Canada needs a fairer and less complex tax system. The CHP offers a simpler and fairer form of taxation based on the simple principle of private property rights. The government has no business taxing private property; income, capital gains, estate taxes, or otherwise. As a nation that wants to be a world leader, we need to reward the hard work, entrepreneurialism, and innovation of individuals and industry, not punish it.
The antics of our Canadian political arena, coupled with our new glamorous 'news' productions, gives Canadians their daily dose of our never-ending political soap opera.
Tune in to the next episode of Political Hijinks! to recap the latest episodes...The Oliphant Inquiry: Canadians get to witness the Right Honourable Brian Mulroney being raked over the coals on accusations that raise questions respecting the integrity of the Prime Minister's Office. Will the highest office in the country survive the assault?
Liberal MP Ruby Dhalla: Allegations that she and her family mistreated three former caregivers. Will the accusations destroy her political career? Or will the accusations be found untrue?
Conservative Attack Ads: Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff's brief honeymoon with the Tories is over. The Conservatives are pounding Mr. Ignatieff, in suggesting his political motives are all self-centered, and that he is un-Canadian. Is he?
Tune into the next episode.... But, is this really what Canadians want?

The short reason why I joined the Christian Heritage Party was because of the Conservative Government's Long-gun Registry Repeal Bill in the Senate (S-5). Not only did it derail Conservative MP Garry Breitkreuz's private member's bill in the House (C-301), it continued long-gun registration through provincial Chief Firearms Officers.[1] This was clearly a betrayal of a long-standing party commitment to Canadian gun owners.
As a result, I resigned as a Director of the BC Southern Interior Conservative Association and as a member of the Conservative Party of Canada. In looking around for a more honest, gun-rights friendly, political party, I found the CHP.
The National Post reports that the Bloc Quebecois invited MPs to a day at the movies.
Bloc leader, Gilles Duceppe, invited MPs to screen a movie based on the 1989 massacre that inspired Canada's strict gun-control laws. Polytechnique is a film about the Dec. 6, 1989, shootings that killed 14 women at Montreal's École Polytechnique.
"The screening . . . is to sensitize parliamentarians to the magnitude of such a tragedy, as well as to stress the importance of gun control," said a news release attached to the invitation.
This used to be called propaganda.
This is a new low for a parliamentary party; attempting to make decisions based on Hollywood's version of a massacre. The facts are a matter of public record. Should the facts not be the source of our decisions? Will decisions regarding safe use of tools begin with a viewing of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, a movie based in the 1954-1957 murders committed by Ed Gein? Of course not, but such a juxtaposition reveals the absurdity of using art to determine law.

Bill S-209, often called the anti-spanking law, has once again passed first reading in the Canadian Senate.
This Bill would allow state intervention in our homes should we spank our children. According to studies published in the United States, in 1993, and quoted in a Health Canada publication, "The Invisible Boy: Revisioning the Victimization of Male Children and Teens", 90% of adults use corporal punishment to discipline their children and correct the child's behaviour.
Discipline by loving parents has included spanking for millennia. Yet, Canadian parents now face the wrath of the government should they use this traditional form of discipline to correct their children's behaviour: this in spite of the past successes of corporal punishment in training future generations and the failure of current methods of discipline to curb errant children.

The new Christian Heritage Party (CHP) leader, Jim Hnatiuk, recently finished a tour of northwest communities to both update members on the party's future and to better understand the concerns of the area.
While the CHP still doesn't have an elected MP, Hnatiuk says they're still working to expand the party.
As part of that and guided by the riding's CHP candidate and deputy leader Rod Taylor, he also met with people in Prince Rupert, Terrace, Houston and Smithers.
"Some of the meetings have been well attended," said Hnatiuk in an interview with the Sentinel. "I'm getting a really good feel about the whole tour."
A very encouraging letter was recently received at my CHP office in Nova Scotia from Prayer Canada's head office in Surrey, BC. Arne Bryan, Founder and Director of Prayer Canada, whose goal is "to encourage Christians to pray for their nation and to establish weekly prayer meetings in legislative buildings, city halls, churches, and homes," wrote that he can no longer encourage his members to vote for Christians in any of the other federal political parties.
Periodically, journalists from across the country will comment on the quandary of "conservative" voters as they see their party abandoning them on an increasing number of policies, but then their articles or commentaries will invariably report that alas, those poor voters have no where else to go. Of course, it's a lie. The truth is that those journalists simply don't want to recognise the CHP and its policies.
But Canadian voters are increasingly searching out the CHP. They know that their vote is important to the future of this country, and they're tired of having their franchise taken for granted. They are principled people who want their vote to reflect their values.
"If pro-life lobby groups speak out and the government ignores it, have they spoken?" is a moral question faced by both Canadians and Americans.
The many years of dedication and hard work put in by our pro-life lobby groups on both sides of the Canada/US border continue to be blatantly ignored. Only last year Canadian pro-life groups received an undeserved slap in the face when the centrepiece of the Canadian system of honours was awarded to abortionist Henry Morgentaler.
Yesterday, US President Obama opened the door to direct taxpayer funding for embryonic stem-cell research reversing a decision made by his predecessor George W. Bush. CHP Canada condemns this decision but sadly admits that, under the current Canadian administration, Obama's decision could have him considered for an honorary "Order of Canada".
Obama's reversal encourages the destruction of human embryos and it puts him on equal footing with Henry Morgentaler.

March 6, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - It is impossible to reside in America today and not hear the constant reference to President Obama's election as a victory for the civil rights movement in America. The recent State of the Union address was over-shadowed by the media's insistence on prefacing every report with a reminder that Obama was black and thus it was a great day for America.
From the telecasts on election day through the present day, it seems that no matter what media outlet one tunes in to, liberal or conservative, Republican or Democrat, Obama supporter or not, almost everyone gushes over Barack Obama's election and inauguration - how it is an "historic" and unforgettable moment for America. It seems as though his campaign success has injected a life blood into Americans to believe that if a black man can be elected President, each one of us can also be recognized for our full potential and achieve anything.
Like most Americans, January 20th, 2009 will be a day that is not soon forgotten in our household. However, it will be remembered differently for us. As I sat and listened to reporter after reporter gush about the championing of civil rights, I suffered the miscarriage of the little precious baby that we had only known for a matter of days was going to be a part of our family. Listening to the newscasts and mourning the loss of the life of our child gave me pause.
Yes, Barack Obama is our first black President. But this election was by no means a triumph for inalienable rights. On the contrary, America successfully elected a black man who is more than willing to deny the most basic right to life itself of both unborn children (especially black children) and newly born children who survive an attempted abortion. Have Americans, liberals and conservatives alike, become so blind that they cannot see the forest for all of the trees?

New Christian Heritage Party leader Jim Hnatiuk told supporters during a stop in Smithers on Friday, the challenge facing the party is to draw support from the large pool of identified Christians and disenfranchised.
But appealing to young voters is paramount.
The 'Tug-of-War' of GLB demands
Jim Hnatiuk, leader of the Christian Heritage Party of Canada, points out two recent developments within the gay lesbian or bisexual (GLB) community that demand further investigation.
The first is a recent GLB complaint against Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada, submitted to the Canadian Human Rights Commission last month.
In the complaint, available here, the complainants say they don't receive equitable levels of programming support from Health Canada, compared with support for the general population or other minorities. The GLB complaint reveals a significant increase in health problems within the GLB communities. To quote only a few from their submission:
· "... gay/bisexual men have a life expectancy 20 years less than the average man in Canada";
· "..lesbians have higher rates of breast cancer"; and
· "within the area of HIV/AIDS that the inequities in Health Canada and Public Health Agency of Canada policies and programs vis-à-vis GLB people are most clearly illustrated... If one uses Statistic Canada's figure of 1.7% for the percentage of the population that is GLB..., the infection rate is 26 times higher than the general population."
Firearm Ownership is Your RIGHT
Canadian gun owners are discovering that the CHP promotes and champions the right to own a firearm and the right to own and enjoy their private property. The CHP also believes these rights must be embedded in our Constitution.
Trappers, seal hunters, fishermen, elk and wild boar farmers, like all Canadians, need an assurance that the hard-earned reward of their labour is protected under the law inasmuch as they have a right to own their property. Currently, there is no such assurance, since the right to private property was intentionally left out of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
This 1 hour video shows the Christian perspective on the homosexual issue. It is not meant to be hateful, but it is meant to be frank and truthful documentary about the other side of the story that many people do not know about.

Communiqué Vol 16, No 03 Feb 03, 2009
US President Obama is dangerously out of step. His pre-election anti-free trade rhetoric it seems was sincere, and he seems willing to chart a course not only in contravention of NAFTA, but contrary to the unanimous agreement reached by the G-20 nations.
His $819-billion stimulus package includes a provision that would require U.S.-made steel and iron to be used for infrastructure projects.
Jan 27, 2009 For immediate release
OTTAWA, Jan. 27, 2009 - The Christian Heritage Party of Canada and the CHP's former leader have been notified by the Canadian Human Rights Commission that allegations of 'hate' by an Edmonton man against the Party, one of its Electoral District Associations and former leader Ron Gray have been dismissed.
The CHRC dismissed the three complaints because "the content and context of the material which forms the basis of the complaint is not likely to expose a person or persons to hatred or contempt based on sexual orientation," says the letter from Lucie Veillette, secretary of the Commission, to Ron Gray. "Accordingly, the file on this matter is now closed."
Gray was critical of the CHRC's procedures, and the effect its proceedings can have of "chilling" public discussion of important policy issues.
"I wrote to the CHRC about these complaints Feb. 19, 2007--almost two years ago--and have not yet had a reply to that letter," Gray said. "The proceedings have cost about $50,000. Fortunately, there were people across Canada who believed in free speech enough to cover those costs with voluntary donations.
"I want to thank the hundreds of people who helped to defend free speech rights in Canada by contributing to our legal defense fund.
The various reactions to yesterday's Communiqué have shown how, even the most sincere of people can differ in their perception of what is being communicated. Some agreed and some were opposed.
I think it's time for-as Paul Harvey says-"the rest of the story."
In my Communiqué of yesterday, my focus was towards the great leap forward in human rights that, with the history of racism in the United States, they have elected a black president. I see this as a positive step forward in the eradication of racism. Racism is something which the CHP also opposes.
I knew of Mr. Obama's views on abortion and I am vehemently opposed to them. I have given lectures to youth groups against partial birth abortions. I have shown adult groups videos to educate them on the evils of abortion. I have handed out pro-life material. I have held pro-life banners high, protesting in the street, while pro-abortion activists screamed in my face. I agree that ABORTION is the greatest human rights issue of all times.
One of the things the reaction to the first Communiqué showed is that people perceive things differently. Many people thought I was applauding President Obama. I was not! I was applauding the fact that America has put behind it generations of racial bias.
Jim Hnatiuk - Leader of the Christian Heritage Party Communiqué Vol 16, No 02 Jan 20, 2009
Today's inauguration of President Barack Obama is a monumental step for all humanity. This historic event will surely have a major positive influence--not only in North America, but for the whole world; it is not only a milestone for relationships between Whites and people of African ancestry; it sets an example that affirms the value and dignity--and right to freedom--of all people.
