Zelda makes analyst's list of 2009 releases

With this year's release of Wii installments for Super Smash Bros., Animal Crossing, and Mario Kart, there are few cherished Nintendo series in need of a new-generation debut. That means it's about time for the publisher to start a second lap of its greatest hits, and if one industry analyst's prognostication is accurate, leading off that lap could be a second installment of The Legend of Zelda.

Konami teasing new Metal Gear
I wonder what this means? what do you guys think? Rumors of an Xbox 360 version of Metal Gear Solid 4 have been bouncing around for years. (Remember this one?) More recently, the last few months have seen whispers of the first Metal Gear Solid, released for the original PlayStation in 1998 and PC in 2000, making its way onto Xbox Live.

Now, both rumors have been restoked with a vengeance by a teaser page on the Konami site. Posted just as the Friday workday ended--a common publicity tactic by publishers to "build buzz" over a weekend--the teaser page bears a single line of text saying, "A next Metal Gear is... read more inside>>>>>

Microsoft details new XBL themes

All signs are pointing to a November rollout for Microsoft's Xbox Live dashboard overhaul. The redesign, officially known as the New Xbox Experience, will bring with it a host of changes to Microsoft's already well-liked online hub, including an avatar-based community system, integration with Netflix's on-demand movie download service, animated backgrounds, interactive buddy lists. and the ability to install games to the console's hard drive, among other features.

No next-gen consoles until 2012?
To date, console generations have not been especially long-lived. Sony waited six years after the PlayStation 2 hit shelves to release the PlayStation 3. Nintendo's Wii followed up the GameCube in five years. And Microsoft made some gamers' heads spin by launching the Xbox 360 a mere four years after the debut of the original Xbox. If history repeated itself...

Wii nears 30M, DS slumps in Japan

The Nintendo juggernaut continued rolling today with its latest glowingly profitable quarterly report, but the company's figures showed one of its tent-pole products losing steam.

Between April and June, the Nintendo DS handheld sold 6.94 million systems worldwide. That's down slightly from 6.98 million during the same time frame the year before. Nintendo also updated its lifetime-to-date sales total for the DS, which has now sold 77.54 million systems worldwide.

Nintendo Controllers Facing Ban?
Nintendo Co., the world's biggest maker of handheld game machines, is facing a ban on sales of some controllers for its Wii and GameCube systems after it lost a bid to overturn a $21 million patent-infringement verdict.

U.S. District Judge Ron Clark in Lufkin, Texas, rejected Nintendo's request for a new trial in the case won by closely held Anascape Ltd. of Tyler, Texas. He said that he would stop sales of the Wii ****c Controller, WaveBird controller and Nintendo GameCube. His ban will be put on hold while Nintendo appeals the verdict to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, according to Anascape lawyer Doug Cawley.

Nintendo: Lifetime US Wii sales surpass Xbox 360

The industry-tracking NPD Group's sales data for June isn't set for release until later today, but Nintendo is already touting the figures as an inflection point in the current console wars. The publisher proclaimed that the NPD's latest figures show that the Wii has attained the title of the best-selling current-generation console in the US. Nintendo managed to make the claim without once mentioning by name the previous king of the sales hill, Microsoft's Xbox 360.

We all knew that this was going to happen sooner or later, Discuss

A sequal to Wii Sports announced at Nintendo's Press Conference

Wii Sports Resort was shown today at the Nintendo Press Conference. It will include the Wii Motion plus and an extended jacket to go with it. Multiple games were shown today, including a Frisbee game, a racing game with jet skies, and a sword fighting mini-game.

Nintendo also announed "Wii Music" which will be a completely new experience into the music genre. Instead of playing like Guitar Hero or Rockband, you don't have to play the exact notes or anything like that. The game is designed more for casuals, and will try to bring more casual gamers to the console.

Discuss.

Rumor: Halo 4 in development already

A very good and anonymous source tells us that Halo 4 is already in full development over at Bungie. I wish to God She/He/It had more details to share but at this point all She/He/It can confirm for sure is that Halo 4 is an Official project being developed by Bungie, at this very moment.

With more than 20 million copies of Halo 3 sold worldwide, I know it's a no-brainer that the series would continue somehow. It's nice to get this sort of reassurance from a source who has never been wrong for us before.

If we get more details, we'll share them. If She/He/It is wrong... They'll be quietly disposed of.

This is just a rumor, but still. I would love to see this!

A couple new features for the Union...

So lately I've been adding some new stuff to the Union in hopes of attracting new members. We're doing really good right now, but please stop by our forums and help us out Anyways, here are the new features:

User Profile Levels:

In addition to emblems, we've added levels to the mix. You can go up levels by posting, and go down by getting moderated. You do get new things for reaching certain levels, so check it out!

The GS Score Thread

This is the other new feature. We try to predict the scores that GS will give games. It's really cool once you get started, so make sure you look at that as well.

In other news, our game of Hurt n' Heal is almost down to 2 people (who will be Gordan Freeman and Solid Snake). Make sure you come out and help your chracter win that game! Anyways, tht's all for now.
