I can give the Game Designers Universe a great opportunity if you wish to work hard and recruit members. Simply, this union is too good of an idea to die (I thought of it myself, and it's completely my fault that it's basically dead). Therefore, if you guys can spur activity, and advertise an off-site forum, you guys could reap in benefits. Think of it, instead of one board for everything, you guys could have a competitions board, a game development board, a game ideas and help board, and a gaming discussion and debate board seperate on your very own forums. If you want to set up a website, I can set up one for you guys free. Just look at the links in my sig, and you'll see how far I've come with TESFU off-site. I was thinking that not only GDU could move off-site, but many game design sites in general. I don't know how the game development union feels about this, but perhaps you guys could build your own forums together if need be. I'm giving this idea to chutup and anyone who remains here, and I'll give it also to just4yoshi.
Well here's the deal with it currently. Any game design unions could share a forum, where all the boards would relate to a specific aspect of game design. If you looked above, you'd see the planning on the subject. I'm simply offering a way for you guys to have far more options than a gamespot union does, and that would bring about more activity if you guys were willing to truly go and recruit members.
If I recruit, it's for SS. If I joined us into this it would be more of a disjoined but joined place. In case you are unaware of it, www.synergisticstudios.com is already up. So, we could be affiliated, but don't expect some grand team.
That would be great, but... I still think our main problem is a lack of activity. Even if we move off-site, will people post there? I might send a telegram asking people if they would follow us to a new site...
Believe me when I say, telegrams don't do anything. You need to individually PM members all over the gamespot community for this to work. That's what I do with TESFU, we've got around 40-50 active members, simply cause I've PMed hundreds and hundreds of people. But here's the deal with GDU. If you PM 5 people per day, on whether they'd move off-site, and someone else made 3 to 4 topics per day on site, then activity would truly roll. That's exactly what happens at TESFU. What I do is that I PM 5-15 people per day, and then I or an officer makes a good 3-4 topics on top of what others post, and we end up with hundreds of posts per day.
Perhaps that's why some people don't like SS. We are not about number of posts. In fact, that would simply bog us down. It is only for those who are really interested in the team. Success is measured by the number of members who are helping develop the game AND enjoying it .
