Rofl. Go to layer > Layer Style > Blending Options > Drop Shadow.
You do better blending. I hardly make sigs that are not colourful.

I use a lot of techniques to blend. Gradient maps, filters, smudging.

I never did know how to use gradient maps. I always screw up. it turns horrible.
