So I announced my Developer for a Day finalists. It was exceptionally difficult for me to run this year. For some reason, there were a whole lot of entries, and the length of a lot of the entries was extensive.

In the end, a few of the ones I picked were actually somewhat shorter, because I really liked the idea or principle; in the end, a good idea is a good idea.

This year I just didn't have the time to prepare individual comments for each entry; however, I don't really know if that's going to be a huge disadvantage to finalists. Really, the quality of each entry is quite impressive, and I can only offer the most general of guidance.

The important thing is to convey your game well and in a concise manner. I'm of the opinion that I should know what your game is about just from the first couple pages. If you don't have that, you're not going to keep the readers' interest.

I'm not sure I'm going to be able to do this contest anymore. It's a huge drain on me, and it's very hard to have to not pick some great entries. That doesn't necessarily mean the contest is dead; but it's grown beyond the scope of one person. We'll see what next year holds, I guess.

Anyway, congrats to all the finalists.

Thank you for running this competition Adam, and thank you for choosing me as a finalist. I desperately hope that there is another, as I have thouroughly enjoyed entering - something I would say regardless of the result.

Adam, thanks for running the contest in the first place. This was the first year I entered (or even knew about it) and I had a lot of fun working on a document. I don't blame you at all for needing to back away - it looks like a lot to handle for one person. But I sincerely hope the contest returns in the future.

I really appreciate what you've done here. I enjoyed entering this competition and I hope that there's another one. Contests like this makes me stick around the CNET sites. Keep it up. If you need help with judging, why not create a team of GS subscribers to summarize the entries so it can make it easier for you to judge.

Adam, thank you for running this Contest. I've had an immense blast coming up with new ideas. I was actually very surprised when you announced the 2nd DFAD, let alone all the ones that followed.

Thanks for a good ride, hopefully something like this, somewhere, will always exsist to inspire creative thinkers.

Wow, I still can't believe I made it. Thanks for the chance, Adam. Hope you have an easier time picking the number one now...

    Congraculations gentlemen!

And EDU! Dude! You never told me that you had an idea for a Zatoichi game. My brain is fixxing with ideas on what that'd be like! You better have made the sword play as realistic as it is in Zatoichi, it's one of the only movie series's that have real martial arts in them.

i'm really glad i made it, and while i had actually hoped for some feedback, from the sound of your comments and such i can see what you mean, i really only had one very specific change i wanted to make after i handed it in and i think i'll isolate my efforts to that, since it's clear i hit the structural points and of course had that "it" factor of an idea you were actually keen on.

of course just getting a finalist (and hopefully the awesome ideaman badge) isn't enough for me, no sir, i'll be hoping/trying for the top spots, maybe juice up my PS3 fund

I hope it continues. Maybe other people can do most of the work
