Alien Hominid HD beams up more content

Two new picture packs and 100 extra PDA levels added to Xbox Live Arcade game's downloadable offerings.

While high-definition graphics were one of the main selling points of Alien Hominid HD when it arrived on the Xbox Live Arcade, the downloadable gameplay content thus far released for the game is not so concerned with eye candy.

A second pack of 100 extra PDA mode levels for Alien Hominid HD is now available on the Xbox Live Marketplace, Xbox Live director of programming Larry Hryb announced on his Major Nelson blog today. The PDA mode of Alien Hominid is a series of optional platforming levels for the game, featuring rudimentary graphics and puzzle-solving elements.

While a downloadable content pack released earlier this month featured 100 newly designed PDA levels, the pack released today includes 100 levels from the original Alien Hominid previously only available in Europe. The pack costs 150 Microsoft points ($1.87).

Accompanying the Euro PDA levels to the Xbox Live Marketplace is a pair of Alien Hominid picture packs. The first pack features images of five of the game's bosses, while the second pack contains five shots inspired by the game's Soviet-themed levels, including the KGB Blimp and the Yeti. The two packs are available for 100 Microsoft points ($1.25) each.

I hope they upload patches for a few things, such as music for the Missile Mastar and for the PDA. Yes, the console versions all had music for these modes and they're lacking on the HD version

I keep considering a purchase of this game, but I always think about it's pedigree as a Flash game. It makes me think I shouldn't be paying more than five or ten dollars for it.

Such a great game when it first came out and still is. It's one of the few GC games i actaully kept. (In the company of games like Killer 7, Metal Gear Solid, and Eternal Darkness)

what do you mean by flash app? the game wasn't programmed in flash for the console version (which was reprogrammed with much more features and reworked art and animations than the flash version on newgrounds.com) and the only thing done in flash was the art and animation.

Alien Hominid...HD? Why in bloody blue blazes did they bother making an HD version of a Flash app?

Pretty sweet. I already downloaded the other level pack, so I might not get this one for a while. But I'll eventually get it. I really love the main game, so I wish they would release some more content for that, but PDA levels are cool too.

ChickenHounk911, i just bought the game and it is pretty sweet. but the PDA mode is pretty lame. the PDA mode is just your alien character playing a PDA. you control this stick figure guy and you have to collect green orby things and jump on bad guys' heads. the game already comes with PDA levels so play the ones that are already there and then decide if you want to buy more.

Chicken: Buy them both! It is the ultimate arcade/party game! You could keep your friends playing for hours, trust me. I loved the game, even since it first happened on newgrounds, and when I bought the pack, it made it even better.

I don't have Alien Homonid yet. Should I buy both the game PLUS the PDA levles too? Or should I start with the game only. Also, is it worth it? Thanks!

Does this change review score since there is an expansion or is there just a review for the expansion. GS said the game was kinda short.

That's a lot of levels. I haven't played the PDA mode levels in Alien Hominid HD yet, but if I like them when I do, I'd be willing to play $1.87 for 100 levels.
