New Mortal Kombat detailed

Armageddon comes for MK universe on Xbox, PS2; fighter roster includes more than 60 characters from series.

The first details of the follow-up to Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks have surfaced, and the news will please fans of the franchise's lengthy and diverse roster of fighters. "All the characters from Mortal Kombat fighting history," totaling more than 60 playable characters, will be included in the game, according to the latest issue of Game Informer.

For those who would rather put their own spin on a fighter, a Create-a-Kombatant option has been added that lets gamers pick facial features, wardrobe, and even maneuvers for their pugilist. The fatality system will be "reinvented," and midair combos and directional throws will also be included.

Mortal Kombat: Armageddon is scheduled for release on the Xbox and PlayStation 2 in October.

    I hope they come out with a gamecube version. I have an x-box, but I haven't gotten a good gamecube game in a while.

    I'm looking forward to playing this, let us all see if they didn't copy and paste the moves and fatalities.......lets see how creative Midway really is. However, with just the knowledge of 60+ characters is pretty nuts as is. I say when Mortal Kombat Armageddon comes out, I will be waiting in line.

    Any body know who the guy is that's behind Goro and Kintaro in the screen shot with all the characters...is it the fire god?

    Mortal Kombat has always been a blast. But, I don't know if Midway will EVER capture that feeling from the first 3 again.

    I find it a good idea by Midway to end the current-gen trilogy with this blockbuster and saving some new ideas and resources for next-gen. Also, the gamecube might not be left out seeing that it got some exclusives with Deception, sans online play and a later street date, so GCN owners stop worrying.

    Finally!! A Mortal Kombat where you can create a character. I've been waiting for this for years! I have a question though. Why are they not making this for the 360??

    Well Lets see the history:
    1.MK is Klassic ,DOA is not ( Best DOA was 2 on DC )
    2.MK on Xbox: ( SM, DA, D) 7.5 8.1 8.5
    DOA on Xbox: ( 3, SBV, U) 7.9 6 8.8
    (Scores on Gamespot which really like DOA more than MK)
    (See MK Scores on others like Game Informer)
    3.Judging by the scores, Makes Tekken the real winner
    4.DOA is childish and cartoonish game that should be compared to same games like Tekken
    5.MK is a real bloody battle that has no match up to this day ( What other game features FATALIY and Bloody realism and has LEGENDRY characters like SCORPION and SUB-ZERO? )

    I seriously cannot wait to kick some ass with Kintaro...and Sektor...and Rain...and Sheeva...and Onaga (officially)...and Shao Kahn. Too bad Motaro might not make an appearence though.

    And if you ask most gamers which series is better, MK would own DOA. Nothing beats a classic.

    Mk is more than a simple game is a legend is story and that game saga suffer some good chances from deadly alliance, and after suffer more changes on Deception, but now is a amazing game play a excellent moves and a lot of games modes for that I believe that will be the most amazing MK until the moment

    Mortal Kombat Trilogy was a great idea that was poorly executed. The N64 version had the right speed and difficulty, as well as a decent frame rate but lacked to complete cast of stages and characters that the PS 1 version had. But the PS1 version had painfully slow loadtimes, choppy animations and an insain difficulty level... and yet both of them managed to have really poor sound. If only a more powerful console had been available at the time the things they could have done... Maybe Midway can keep that in mind for thier next treasures collection... But now I will segway into MKA. Cool! I'm excited and yet miffed at the same time. I'm excited because this has the potential to be the end all be all mortal kombat, and I'm dissapointed because I'm already thinking about how much better this game would be on PS3 and Xbox 360.
    For GameCube owners, yeah it sucks that Midway keeps ignoring the Cube that could, I think RE 4 really showed off how amazing the machine really is, but that hasn't helped it's reputation much, however misleading the reputation as a little kids machine really is most developers have that attitude... Sadly I do own a GCN, but would likely buy the Xbox version anyway...

    MK:Armageddon for PS2 (And hopefully Xbox)
    Its going to ROCK. If you dont like mk go play childish games like tekken and dragonballZ. If you want real Kombat, real battle, then MK:A is for you.

    1. The Kombatant Kreator in MK:A is based on THQ's wrestling games not Soul Calibur's (Considering the deep Kustomization and move assignment)
    ==========================================================
    2. Not only Noon-Saibot, but every other person (or Thing!!!!) is here, If you can't believe this, go see Game Informer issue 154.
    ==========================================================
    3. They're not copying anyone, these changes have always been I fans minds and they're simply listening to them ( and their hearts ).
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    *** MK:Armageddon RAWKS *** If I have to, I would trade my X360 for this game ALONE. FINISH HIM (or HER)

    Not sure if this means anything, but the unofficial title of the currently being written script is Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. So could this game be losely tied to the possible movie. I have not heard much lately, but one of the people that writes for a very popular movie news site is the screenwriter for the movie. Just a tidbit I found interesting when I saw the title of the game.
