New Pokémon may erase GBA data

Bug in Pokémon: Fushigi no Dungeon Blue for DS may erase saved information on Game Boy Advance cartridges.

TOKYO--In Japan, Nintendo has sent a warning to consumers that the latest Pokémon game for the DS, Pokémon: Fushigi no Dungeon Blue, may accidentally wipe out saved data on Game Boy Advance cartridges. The company will be shipping out bug-free replacements soon.

Nintendo simultaneously released two versions of Fushigi no Dungeon on November 17 in Japan--one for the DS (Fushigi no Dungeon Blue) and one for the GBA (Fushigi no Dungeon Red). The DS version accesses the handheld's GBA slot so that if players also have the GBA version inserted, they can play with data from the cartridge. However, a problem with the game can delete saved data if an unrelated GBA game is present in the slot instead.

Nintendo states that the issue can be avoided by making sure that unrelated GBA games aren't inserted in the DS while playing Fushigi no Dungeon Blue and also says that there are no issues as long as the GBA game is Fushigi no Dungeon Red. But for consumers who are having problems, the company will replace their copy of Fushigi no Dungeon Blue with a free fixed edition, which is expected to ship around December 8. Consumers can apply online for the replacement on Nintendo's official Web site.

The next person that says the first pokemon game caused seizures shall be dragged out and shot. The game didn't cause seizures, the Pokemon TV show did. I don't think it's possible to get seizures from playing the original Pokemon game. It's greyscale, unless you play it on the GBA/GBC; In that case, you get a whopping four colors with crappy visual effects.

Well, at least Nintendo's responsible for their mistakes in the game business. How many times has that fatcat ambulance chaser Jack Thompson called Mario a "murder simulator"? Never, because Nintendo tries to stay outta trouble, and fixes it when they get in it. Remember the Mario Party incident a while back?

Sorry, I can't read this page without getting angry at the tiny-minded illiterates among us. When will you people learn how to read properly?

"The DS version accesses the handheld's GBA slot so that if players also have the GBA version inserted, they can play with data from the cartridge. However, a problem with the game can delete saved data if an unrelated GBA game is present in the slot instead."
This means GBA games that you happen to have in your DS's GBA slot while you're playing Pokémon Fushigi no Dungeon Blue. You can transfer data from Pokémon Fushigi no Dungeon Red, which is a simultaneous release on GBA, but any other non-Pokémon game is at risk.

The chances of the majority of you lot buying an affected version is extremeley minimal and Nintendo has acknowledged the situation and is replacing bugged versions for free.

This bug will be fixed by the time the game's released outside of Japan.

"what are they doing with Pokemon at first the games were amazing then they started overdoing it, but now whats up with this thing, its erasing data, Nintendo is screwin around with Pokemon a lot lately "
nightmare_cloud, were you born an idiot or have you just practiced a lot? Your post reads like you think Nintendo have put this into the new Pokémon game on purpose. It's a bug that wasn't found during testing and they're rectifying it. That doesn't in any way constitute "screwing around with" the game.

It's obvious where stupid internet rumours come from when people can't even read and understand basic information properly.

Wait so you have to have the DS game and a Pokemon GBA cartridge in at the same time for it to be erased? That doesn't sound like much of a problem..

I bought the GBA version of this game at the Tokyo Pokemon Center the day after its launch, and I have found it far better than any Pokemon game since RBY. Nintendo has been watering down the basic formula for far too long, but between the focus on the Pokemon themselves, the dungeon RPG structure, and the replayability, this interests me far more than any Final Fantasy, Mario, or Zelda game ever could. But then, I spend much of my time playing ASCII-based roguelikes, so my tastes clearly run towards this type of unpretentious gameplay.
However, this glitch is certainly a rather boneheaded mistake. I do wish Nintendo wouldn't provide trolls with Pokemon-bashing fodder.

Wow, doesn't Madden for the PSP still ship with a game-breaking "shuts off your PSP" bug? Compared to that, a bug that requires an interaction with an unrelated game seems somewhat trivial. If only EA had the scruples to fix and replace problem games...

NIntendo has always report their mistakes and tries to fix them. They try to fix anything that is wrong. If your Nintendo console's broken, they fix it pretty much right away. Their customer service is the best I've seen, unlike Sony (PSP and malfunctioning square button is part of the design, tons of disc read errors that make people repurchase a PS2).

The first pokemon games were in black and white, and did not give kids seizures. It was the pokemon cartoon, and one episode in particular, that did it.

This is rough, but it can't beat the playstation undergorund disc that had a playable demo of a really hyped up game (Can't remember the name for the life of me) that erased memory cards. Everyone I know doesn't keep games in their DSes, but everyone keeps memory cards in their PS2s >.>
