I tried playing it tonight, but it won't start it. It recognizes it on the XMB, but when I try to start it, it gives the play icon, then the control panel icon, and then just remains black. Do I have to let it load something for several minutes or what?

I have not purchased UP yet, I'm actually going to get it tommorow and watch it on friday (if I get my projector back soon), but I had the same issue when I played Snow White on my PS3, this is actually kind of scary now that I think about it now .

Yea, I had the same problem. Your blu-ray drive is dying. It will be a matter of time before it just stops reading games all together.

I doubt it, I played some recent blu raymovies after Snow whiteand they all played perfectly well, Kill Bill, The Postman and Last Year at Marienbad (to think of a few)all played perfectly on my player. I bet early editions had playback problems with certain players (such as the PS3).

Oh geez, my mistake. I clearly didn't read the title and the first post correctly. It shows how tired I am and need to get some sleep.

Now I'm going to look to see if there are more problems with UP blu ray discs, so I don't get screwed over for my movie night.

My copy of Up loaded up and plays just fine. (60GB PS3)

    PS3 ID = Steve307

"What should I buy?" = Most annoying threads ever.

    60GB>80GB(w/BC)>160GB>120GB>80GB>40GB>20GB (no wi-fi)...now quit asking.
Upset about the lack of BC in new PS3's? BUY A PS2. Used ones are cheap.

Been doing a bit of searching on the net, and although I couldn't find anything specifically stating problems with Up, but I did come across a thread that someone had a problem with Monsters Inc, a Disney Blu-Ray. It seems like the problem may be with the Blu-Ray Live feature holding up the launch of the movie. It could very well be that since I have a lousy connection, it's taking forever for the PS3 to download all the content before it starts t he movie. I bet will start after several minutes. I hope it works, but if that's really the cause of the trouble, it's absolutely ridiculous! I should not have to go through this just because I want to watch a Blu-Ray!

That is most likely the reason. Just checked and there is a message that says that there may be a delay as the content loads which may result in a blank screen for 3 or so minutes.

my brother told me that his ps3 didn't play the 3-d version of coraline, which played perfectly on my ps3, it may be the bd-live issue...
