So I decided to pick up Anno 1404 after reading all the praise about it. I just got it all set up and jumped into the campaign, and I'm noticing a weird graphical glitch. Some of the ground looks perfectly normal and some of it is just black. Also, in some spots you can see a well defined line in the water where it changes colors from the natural lighter blue to a deep blue. There is no blending, it is a rigid line where all of a sudden the color changes. Is there a setting that is doing this? I have an ATI HD4850 and I just updated the drivers like 2 days ago ... so I'm at a loss. Please help

You didn't mention if you had the patch or not, so make sure you have that. Or at least restart your computer. It might just be a matter of a corrupt texture in your video memory.

Have you tried toggling the various water options, like refraction?

It says that my game is version 1.00.1762. Is that the patched version? And I haven't tried toggling refraction, but I did put shadows to the lowest setting and it still has the same effect.

I downloaded the patch and restarted my pc, and viola! Everything looks perfect now! Now if only I could figure out the game itself
