Sony Computer Entertainment America has begun selling PlayStation Network content via online retailer Amazon.com.

The service is so far only available in the US, and features over 200 items including new games such as Fat Princess and gems including SOCOM and Twisted Metal.

The above is only an excerpt. You can find the full article here.

I believe that this kills one of the aspects that people feared digital distribution would bring along, namely that the console manufacturer would hold a monopoly on the games being sold via their online platform, as expressed in this thread.

How is it possable. This is definately a modern way of thinking on playstations part. I don't think it will hit off because If its possable for someone to buy stuff from the internet well they could get it from PSN faster.

It will hit off if they start making it cheaper, even if it's only slightly cheaper. I buy my xbox live points from online retailers as it is cheaper than buying them instantly on the 360.

On the Xbox 360, you can buy 1 year memberships for like 29 quid, instead of the normal 40 quid. Whos complaining, its making it cheaper for us!
