I want to drink because I finally can buy alcohol myself and drink with no problem; but on the other hand, people at church said "You're 21 now but don't drink any beer or wine or wine coolers or hard lemonade or anything". I don't want to get drunk; I just want to drink for the taste. They can't kick you out of church for drinking on your own time, can they?

For some reason, I have a hard time believing you're 21.

Enjoy it in moderation, like 90% of the world.. and you'll be fine. Theres nothing 'evil' about it, just dont drink it excessively.

Sounds like it wouldn't be that big of a deal if you were kicked out of that church anyway.

What Church do you belong to? And, anyways, go up to that person who told you not to drink alcohol and ask them where in the Bible it says that. Answer? Nowwhere. The Bible doesn't discourage drinking, just getting drunk.

So the church can't kick you out of it for drinking occasionally?

Like LJS said, it depends on your church.

    that made me laugh, but...

Ya, moderation is the key young one. I personally usually have about 3-4 glasses of wine...a year. That's about it. If you find something you like, and it's legal, do it in moderation, and responsibly.

Of course not. If you do anything in excessive it's dangerous. Besides, dont i recall Jesus turned water into wine.. and they had it at thanks giving. and the whole catholic communion thing?

    Alcohol is not 'banned'....

You aren't giving him accurate advice. Church law varies.
