So I downloaded the update today like many of you andI just dont get it. Sony has added nothing worthwhile with this update. Animated themes would be cool but you must pay for them so what was the reason for this update???

I mean seriously now sony is not moving fast enough. MS's updates though are always pushing the console. Facebook, twitter, sky, watching films with friends. Every time it looks like sony is about to catch up, MS makes a huge leap and sony is left hobbling behind...

The ps3 is a reat console, for games imo the best, but sony needs to start speeding up with the features imo becuase blur ay wont cut it on its own forever...

yeah there is literally nothing to this update, the ps store has more shortcuts? i never had a problem finding it before i dont need more.
and the ticker up top gives me no real info that i could find out by going to my friends list.

yeah i noticed it did take a very short time to download, I usually have to take a few hours to download the bigger more feature filled firmware updates for ps3, this one took like 3 minutes.

I actually wish I could turn it off. Those PS store bits are obviously just advertisements to get more revenue.

Which makes me wonder if sony is getting the money it needs to run PSN. Tiny updates, these advertisements. Is this why PSN is moving along so slow?

Imagine if PS3 started charging for PSN? XBox fans everywhere would have a field day. lol. They honestly should though. Maybe not as much as Microsoft, but I just dont see how they can keep it running free of charge. But then again, that is one of Sony's bigger selling points. What a mind **** Aha.

lol, so true, lemmings would go crazy lol. I agree, though, sony should at least charge 30 bucks a year so they can afford bigger improvements. Id gladly pay for it. They could also improve Home, and make that a "premium" feature. Home has potential, but potential does not equal fun.

Yeah, me too. After shutting off the damn sparkles. I just wish we didn't have to pay for the theme. It's not much but at least it would be a change one could see and appreciate.

I think sony will start charging.

At the end of the day whats MS spend with that cash? Well for starters youve got Sky, so you dont need a sky box, theres facebook and twitter, and streaming videos at 1080p. You can even do things like watch a football match with friedns and all talk about it whilst watching, all online.

Then theres NATAL, which is not just for games. It has facial and voice recognition so it signs you in automatically, you can chat online without a headset as it knows your voice and takes out ambient noise.

This is what i mean, MS is obviously using this money to put the 360 leaps and bounds ahead of the ps3 feature wise. Theyve been really aggressive this gen and sony isnt meeting that...

The xmb seems a tiny bitmore responsive, the in-game xmb is a lot better than it was (faster , less hanging) , trophies seemed to load in faster ....... that was worth the 10 min DL or whatever it was to me. - it didn't take long.

The changes in presentation are mostly fine , I don't see why people are raging against the machine over that. The battery over the clock is fixed , you can easily see how may friends are online and if you have a message along with the date and time all in one area. This update apparently gives them the ability to add more avatars (heavy request on that). Using the stick for video control is a welcomed addition , something I'll use from time to time.

I like the what's new section ..... it has the last 3 games I've done before right there , and if I want to look around to see what's newI can do that without going to the store and then backing out of it. They got rid of the information board , it was't much to look at or use from my experience.

I'll take fixes, updates on presentation and usability for now. I'd get more out of this than I would facebook. This won't be the last update folks ..... nothing to cry over.

Just finished Brutal Legend - 7.5 (good , I recommend it). Now playing - Uncharted 2

I found the update ok. There will be more and im not one that marks the date on my calender when a new update is coming.

Unrelated topic (sort of)...please no Facebook/Twitter. Use the web browser. Plug in a keyboard if you hate using the controller because an update for Facebook/Twitter would be useless.

The themes in my opinion are the only thing noteworthy in this update. Although I understand the importance of the multi audio out feature addition, even though I don't need it.

Facebook does not work well at all with the web browser. i tried.

And its not that, its how its all seamless. MS did it with MSN too. I could talk to people and see messages from msn whilst playing games. If they do that with facebook too. It means you can still talk to firends when playing a game. Which imo is way more usefull than an animated theme.

I did notice that the trophy section, which would take a couple of seconds to appear after you chose it, now appears instantly. I do not like the jumbo icons though. I don't know what the hell is up with that. Everything else was pretty underwhelming and maybe people shouldn't have made such a big issue out of it to begin with. People need to stop hyping these updates.
