- Aug 27, 2009 4:43 pm PTI myself have a 40" Sony Bravia XBR and I love it...Got it for a steal during a Circuit city black friday Mistake! My friend has a 42" Panasonic Plasma that also is amazing....they are also cheap nowadays...looks amazing. Either of those brands, you cannot go wrong. Samsung is also another great product...I believe Samsung and Sony share the same internals.

Do NOT get a Plasma, they are going to stop supporting them, if you were to get an LCD get a 42-60 inch Vizio.

[/QUOTE] What "they" are stopping Plasma support? I've not read anything about this, and I've been looking/shopping for and HDTV for some time now. Even decided to go for a plasma after my friends 120Hz LCD gives me headaches every time we watch non-HD material on it. Everything I've seen from Plasma tells me it doesn't affect me the way an LCD does/will.- Please wait. Quick reply will be available shortly.

If anything get a LCD (have a Plasma also). I would say get a Sony BRAVIA(Just because I have one) or if you have lots o cashstola, then I recommend the XBR series. 42" - 60" would be nice and maybe look for a 1080p, but 720p is just as good "for games" Blu-ray is a whole different story though. Definitely get 1080p if you interested in Blu-ray movies.

How come we can't have fair comparisons of multiplats? So maybe the PS3 versions of multiplats during launch were not as bad after all? Hmmm.... very interesting! Click link to see for yourself. http://n4g.com/News-27058.aspx

Yeah, don't buy a console for games! Wow I have heard it all now!gamespot813 wrote:the things is, you don't have to buuy they wii for its games. you can also buy it for reasons other than games such as popularity. i don't see why not?

Right now, the best tvs out are the panasonic plasmas.
Plasmas make LCDs look like garbage.
LCDs--Still have motion blur (even with 120htz). Black levels are very weak, unless you spend a fortune for led backlighting (and even then the black levels are just decent). Pictures just don't look acurate with low black levels.
Plasmas give you full 1080 motion resolution--so you have zero motion blur. Their black levels are superb, causing the picture to pop and look very much like real life. Panasonics are currently the best.
You can get a 50 inch 720p for aroun $1000. I would get this over the 1080 model in 42 inches for around the same price. 1080p makes zero differnce unless you have a set that is larger than 60 inches.

dont listen to this guy. first off, in the latest tv shootouts, plasmas are hae been winning for the last 6 years. vizios are budget tvs and are NOT even close to the best.
some plasmas that cost 1,000 or less can look just as good as high end lcds. can't say the same for lcds. cheap lcds have poor color accuracy, more motion lag/blur, and ofcourse very poor viewing angles.
