Wondering why Gears 2 wasnt nominated?

    on the 360 platform awards page a lot of unhappy comments about this...I am just curious if there was a reason it wasnt nominated?

    personally i think it should have been there...fallout 3 was a fun game but it was FULL of bugs, gta 4 was also a great game but i played through it once and its been sitting my shelf ever since...braid come on...its an arcade game...NHL i cant comment cause i havent played...but gears 2 i have been playing it daily since emergence day and i am loving it. its a real pity it was not included.

    So please tell us why.

    Although I agree with your point Caddy. I think that for the reader's choice, there should be more options so that it is the most most reflective of the readers' choices. I realize this is more of a site suggestion, but since the thread was already created I thought I would chime in.

    I asked this same question on the HotSpot. Called in. Hopefully my call will be on the air because I want the answer for this also. While Braid and Burnout are two of my favorite games of the year, they don't deserve to be on that list.

    Sorry, but you are asking about something that is completely subjective. You feel Gears 2 deserved to be there, GameSpot did not feel that same way. It's as simple as that. GameSpot obviously felt that the other games they decided to nominate deserved to be there more than Gears 2.

    I don't have any problem nor do I see any harm in this question. I am just letting you know that this is totally subjective, and GS obviously felt other games deserved to be on the list more than Gears 2. I just don't see the need in getting held up on "Why isn't this game here" or "Why was that game here" type questions.

    Personally, I don't mind it not being included in our 10 GOTY finalists because the gameplay is fun, but I haven't seen much of anything different from the original Gears. Some bigger enemies, some different vehicles, but nothing that really changes the stop-n'-pop gameplay dynamic. It's great for what it is, but a couple years ago it was great AND novel. Also, the predictably grizzled and/or cliched cast of characters are hurting the fun for me whenever I'm not shooting stuff.

    Keep in mind that's just my take on it. We had a room full of editors butting heads on that finalist list, some who felt it should have been among the 10, some who didn't, and each with their own reasons why.
