360 cannot recognize NTFS???

    MS can make some stupid decisions, but this one takes the cake.

    I watch movies on my external HD connected to the 360. I was going to put some HD movies on the hard drive, but FAT32 does not accept file sizes larger than 4GB, so I converted the file system to NTFS. Well, the 360 is NOT compatible with that file system, and for some reason it is IMPOSSIBLE to convert back to FAT32. Even though MS wants to phase out FAT32, their current gen system only recognizes that file system for multimedia purposes. This is VERY frustrating. The hard drive that I bought for that exact purpose may be useless now, unless I can reformat it to something th e stupid 360 can recognize.

    Any ideas?

    Then you'll have to buy a new hard-drive I suppose.

    It's a pretty crappy limitation, but simple enough solution. Hook the external drive up to your PC and stream media that way... That's what I did, works perfectly. It's actually the better method of streaming movies/music to the 360 because you can add/delete files on the fly rather than having to disconnect it from the 360 and hooking it up to a PC to do so.

    Guess you missed the part where I said I have an EXTERNAL hard drive hooked up. It isn't an Xbox Microsoft brand HD, but an external WD My Book hooked up through USB.

    I know about streaming but I like to have either my home theater system OR my PC turned on, but not both at the same time in order to save power. My PC is a power hog.

    Guess you missed the part where I said I have an EXTERNAL hard drive hooked up. It isn't an Xbox Microsoft brand HD, but an external WD My Book hooked up through USB.

    I know about streaming but I like to have either my home theater system OR my PC turned on, but not both at the same time in order to save power. My PC is a power hog.

    Nothing you can do if you refuse to have your PC on while watching movies. Electricity isn't very expensive, at least in most areas... My electric bill is around $30/month and both my laptop and 1000W desktop are on 24/7 (think I reset my laptop couple months ago). If anything else why not just turn on your PC while streaming a movie then shut it off after the movie is over?
