chicknfeet: *Union awards? What do you mean union awards? We aren't doing them again are we? Oh you've got to be kidding me! Didn't we just finish with those things last week? Well there is no way I'm doing the darn show again this year...at least not without a stiff drink. A shot of Wild Turkey...on the rocks. Gawd this is going to be a long night.* Welcome everybody to GameSpot's second annual Union Award Show where we will be featuring some of the greatest unions GS has to offer. I am your sexay chocolate host chicknfeet here to guide you through this wonderful night of blissful hell. Joining me on stage this year is the less sexay but equally as entertaining REVOLUTIONfreak. Say hello to the nice people Rev...

REVOLUTIONfreak: ... You've just ruined my self-esteem. Anyway, hello nice people! Welcome to the 2007 Union Awards! We have a great show for you tonight, inlcuding- *gets shoved out of the way by chicknfeet*

chicknfeet: Enough talking now Rev. Go stand in the corner for a while. We have an awesome show for you tonight! Our guest performers include Janet Jackson, the Dixie Chicks, the Rolling Stones, Jay-Z, Green Day, and many more...wait, what? They all what? THEY ALL CANCELED? So who do we have left? Gallego and Soulreavercross? This is going to be a long night. Lets just get this thing over with.

Gallego: Well this is pretty much all you could afford to bring to the show, those bake sales make millions for politicians but for some reason average Joe can barely make 10 bucks!

chicknfeet: *sigh* well I guess we have no choice but to go on with the show...superstars or not...let's get this thing started. Our first award for the evening is the Best Sports/Special Interest Union. This category is an omage to those unions that have stayed away from being off topic. It is an omage to those unions that have gone against the flow and told the rest of GS "Hey! I'm not going to do a union about video games!". This award goes to the most outstanding free thinker and goal oriented person that said "Let's put a little milk in this cereal we call GameSpot and stir things up"...*hmmm I think i went a little far out there with that one*. Anyway, the nominees for Best Sports/Special Interest Union are:
    • The Sports Bar and Grill Union
    • The NFL Union
    • The Soul Society Union
    • Soccer Addict Union
    • Manchester United Union

    And the winner is
    Gallego: Felicidadez a el ganado...

    chicknfeet: uhh...this isn't Univision...or Telemundo...>_>

Gallego: Well you're only paying me 10 bucks, unless you add some extra privilages to the contract *wink* *wink* But anyway, congrats to the winner! But lets not forget the rest or the nominees, who are all winners in my book...the book of 2nd places...

chicknfeet: Indeed......the next award is the the Best Union Presentation. This award is for those unions who have taken the time to create a certain look...a certain feel...a certain je ne sais pas to their union's home page. These unions strive to be something that's easy on the eyes, and yet, give you a feeling of awe when you see their many hours of effort bursting forth on their front page in an array of beauty and creativity.

REVOLUTIONfreak: Undoubtedly, this is one union that you're bound to visit frequently just to take a look at its design. The winner of this category is one most are familiar with as one of the best at Gamespot, its creative and aspiring designers and friendly, laid back community perfectly fit the union's unique presentation. What union is this? How about we find out now, chicknfeet.

chicknfeet: And the nominees for Best Union Presentation are:
    • Liquid Designs
    • ~The Naruto Union~
    • Graphic Studio
    • The HeadCrab Union
    • World Wrestling Everything

    And the winner is
Gallego: This is the second year in a row that they've won something. They must be good eh? After all , they made my signature, my profile banner, and maybe they made something for you too! *hides money bag* >_>. Let's all remember the rest of the nominees who simply did not provide a bigger money bag........>_> *sprays crowd with amnesia dust*

chicknfeet: *removes gas mask* Ok Gallego take your suspicious bag behind the stage before everybody realizes what's going on. It would be nice if you warn some of us before you do that next time. Rev...REV...good job Gallego, you dusted Rev.

REVOLUTIONfreak: Huh? *confusedly looks around* .... where am I?

chicknfeet: Good job Gallego, now you gotta fix Rev so he can continue the show with us...hurry up and take him back stage . Well let's move on for now...please. Our next award is for the Best Union Archive. This award is for the union that has done a great job of keeping their news and events coordinated and up to date on their front page for any and all to see. They have gone out and gotten their home page post's hot off the presses. They have been dedicated to keeping their users interested in something other than the message board...and seeing as that's pretty hard to do now with the current union system, we feel the need to congratulate these unions for a job well done. *Is Rev back to normal? Come finish presenting man*

REVOLUTIONfreak: I'm good now...I'm good. *ahem* Surely each of these unions have a certain journalistic quality to them that makes their archives stand out from the rest. Whether it be the writing st yle, presentation, or simply up to date news these unions have a quality shine to them. With that said, let's find out which union has the best archive.

chicknfeet: And the nominees fo Best Union Archive are:
    • Age of Empires Union
    • The System Wars Union
    • The HeadCrab Union
    • PS3 - THE REAL NEXT GEN Union
    • Team Ninja Clan Union

    And the winner is
Gallego: These guys truly have one of the best archives ever. In fact, they should change the name of that union to the Archives......no relation to my own privately hidden UCB.....>_> However, lets give a round of applause to the losers....err...the other nominees.....>_>....but seriously, this one was very close and all these unions have awesome archives.

chicknfeet: Alright folks, we're gonna take our first commercial break. I'm pretty sure most of you didn't notice but when you stepped in the door, you got teleported to our outer space ceremony hall. Please note that we are not activating the teleporter until the end of the show...so stick around for a while, or risk having your head explode by stepping outside

chicknfeet: Hmmm Gallego, those pants really look nice on you...your butt has't looked this good since you got that wax job done.

Gallego: Why Chickn, are you coming on to me? Well lets keep this show Pg-13, or else who knows what could happen *cough* banhammer *cough*....>_> but feel free to continue this conversation via PM....>_> *slaps chickn on the butt*

chicknfeet: Very well, but you will have to let me know if you get the pictures I send you. There's a lot of them so they might clog up your inbox.

REVOLUTIONfreak: ... ... perhaps you guys could discuss this at a better time?

chicknfeet: Sorry Rev...*leans back and winks at Gallego* The next award is for the Union That Should Be GameSpot Endorsed.

REVOLUTIONfreak: Out of the many unions that exist on Gamespot, few have been endorsed over the years. The few that have been, have rightfully earned endorsement, just like the winner of this award is likely to be equally as deserving of that honor. The nominees for the Union That Should Be GameSpot Endorsed are:
    • The Elder Scrolls Fan Union
    • Gamespot's Gamespace Banner Union
    • The Emblems Union
    • Soul Calibur Union
    • The Legend of Zelda Union

    And the winner is
Gallego: The Elder Scrolls Fan Union is truly a great union for those Elder Scrolls fans *hides copy of Oblivion* >_> But the other Unions are equally awesome too, except the people who voted for the other one the most.

chicknfeet: It sounds like you are calling out the folks who voted for the other unions...but I know you would never do that... Congrats on the win guys. What's the next award? I can't read the teleprompter. What is it? *pulls out glasses* Oh yeah...ok. The next award is the Best Off-Topic/ Discussion Union. These unions seem to be a dime-a-dozen these days. Not many people can pull off a good OT union anymore since that's all that seems to enter people's mind when coming up with a new union. However, among the masses of mediocre OT unions, 5 have risen to the top to shine among the hordes as the example of greatness other unions would benefit from to follow...hold on guys, my head just overloaded there for a second.

Gallego: Jeez...while Chickn recovers, the nominees for Best Off-Topic/ Discussion Union are:
    • The Club Whatever Union
    • The Union Leader Council
    • Random Insanity Union
    • The Social
    • Sandlot's Safety Net

    And the winner is
REVOLUTIONfreak: Congrats guys on the clencher win.

chicknfeet: I still don't know how hard it is to keep up an OT union...but I digress. Please continue Rev.

REVOLUTIONfreak: The next award is for the Best "First to Fight" Union. These unions have been here since the beginning, they've perservered through all of the hardships of creating a union on Gamespot and have managed to last regardless of these hardships. They're the top notch unions that most will remember as "clas.sics". The nominees for Best First to Fight Union are:
    • The HeadCrab Union
    • The Resident Evil Union
    • Halo 3
    • Church and State
    • Game Spot Live

And the winner is Gallego: The HCU wins for the second year in a row! And they say its dead. BAH! Looks alive and well to me! Anyway, we need to take another commercial break folks. It seems the space aliens outside are getting a little restless and we need to feed them something so they will leave us alone for another hour. Hey Chickn! Where the heck is Fastesttruck? Maybe he will keep them appeased for a while. We'll be right back. Fastest...FASTEST...

chicknfeet: Ok we are almost done for another year...thank goodness. I'm a little worn out by this thing this year

Gallego: ..........HUH? Why is the camera focused on me? I got no joke here! Go away! *shoots cameraman*

chicknfeet: *sigh* damn it...CAN WE GET THE CLEAN UP CREW OUT HERE PLEASE!!! Why the hell did we pay you those ten dollars man if you can't even give a good joke to entertain the people? Then you go around killing every random camera man we have. Now Rev has to fill in and try and say something funny.

REVOLUTIONfreak: What the hell is everyone looking at me for? I was hired to say all of the profound crap, not to be funny! We really should set up a fund for better entertainment next year, guys. If we start now, maybe we can get some good comedians! *holds out donation bin*

chicknfeet: ... -_- guh...well I guess we should at least give him an A for effort...actually, no. Shame on both of you guys. Just forget it. Let's move on...my stomach is starting to rumble. The next award is for the Best Game Specific Union. This award is for...well, unions that focus on specific games...duh. They have stayed true to the theme of this world we call GameSpot and focused on a specific game...kind of like the shared boards but with their own little extra bit of flare. Of course, they all are a step above the shared boards by keeping their members up to date with the latest news, reports, and pictures of the games they have dedicated their interests to.

REVOLUTIONfreak: And the nominees for Best Game Specific Union are:
    • The Legend of Zelda Union
    • The Ace Combat Union
    • The Halo Union
    • The GTA Legends Union
    • The Crysis Union

    And the winner is
Gallego: Congrats guys for wining yet again...I tihnk....*checks last years awards* but the other Unions deserve a round of applause for committing themselves to making a Union about one game!

chicknfeet: So close to the end. Let's keep this show rolling...my nekid dancing ladies look a bit lonely. Get away from my girls Soul!!! Damn pervy mods...

    REVOLUTIONfreak: Pshhh... look who's talking.

chicknfeet: Got a problem, Rev? *shakes fist* >_> ... the next award is for the Best Community Assistance Union. This award is for the union that provides a great service to GS users in one way or another. It's not just about talking about games. It's not just about talking about random off-topic subjects. This union has set up their structure in order to mentally enhance us and give us great customer service...ok maybe not, but they are good at getting the information they get and in some way, shape, or form they are providing a great service for everybody. And the nominees for Best Community Assistance Union are:
    • Liquid Designs
    • The Emblems Union
    • GameSpot Gamespace Banner Union
    • Fastesttruck's Top 25 Union
    • Overclock and PC Tweaking Union

    And the winner is
Gallego: Congrats to the Over...uhhh Over...hmph *names too long and I'm too lazy* Union. You know, I bought my laptop after getting some info on video cards, RAM, etc from that union. But let us remember the other nominees who, in their own way, help make your life a lot easier....though I don't know what emblems have to do with your life.......

REVOLUTIONfreak: Ummm Gallego, I don't think we should get into that whole argument right now. Have a cookie and try to clear your mind for a minute. *hands Gallego a cookie*

chicknfeet: Ah finally, the penultimate award for the evening. It was actually the award I was most looking forward to. The Best GameSpot Union.

REVOLUTIONfreak: Throughout the past few years GameSpot's unions have stood out as a unique feature of this always expanding website. Although every union is unique and great on its own merits, there will always be the bunch that stand out from the rest as the best of the best. The unions below are just that, with one in particular standing out as the best. Everything about it is just about as perfect as a union can get, meaning that this is likely to be a union most GameSpot users visit quite frequently. It is filled with a friendly and growing community, an updated archive of news and updates, and offers features unlike any other union on Gamespot. Which of these spectacular unions is that one union? Let's find out.

    Gallego: And the nominees are:
    • The Emblems Union
    • The Triple A
    • The Fighter's Realm Union
    • Metal Union
    • Square Enix Experience

    And the winner is
chicknfeet: Congrats guys. You all really are doing a great job in the community. Ok we are going to take one more break before we get to the final category. So y'all stay seated while we go check out the after party snacks

REVOLUTIONfreak: Craving a new Dew? Well crave no more! We're ready to introduce to you the best Mountain Dew flavor we've ever offered! What is it? Well, I guess I can let you in on the secret...

Behold, the one, the only, the powerful, the super sexay, the thirst quenching, the lead infected (oops, must have let that one slip, sorry about that), delicious, world hunger ending (well, thirst anyway),

    MOUNTAIN DEW: CODEWIRE FUEL!

Yes, we're ready to accept our award for most original soda name. Take that Coke! *smashes Coke bottle across table* MUAHAHAHAHAHA... *ahem* Anyway... buy it now! There's plenty for everyone, prepare for a sublymonal soda sensation! Ha, that was a pretty good phrase too, man we're original!

Our new dew also doubles as gas for your car! Yepp! And at the inexpensive price of only $3.10 a bottle, you can have your gas tank filled up in no time! Heck, you can even drink your gas if you want to! It tastes much better than that ordinary fuel anyway, who wants that nasty stuff?

Mountain Dew: Codewire Fuel, it's better than coke, AND gasoline!

chicknfeet: Are you tired of the same old Viagra? Cialis falling short for you? Phizer been letting you down? Well worry no more. Introducing Pfiagris, the new happy pill from the makers of TrimSpa. Pfiagris goes to work the instant it touches your tounge and lasts 3 times as long as the other leading brand. Get a little extra pep in your step. Enjoy that extra boost of confidence. Give that special loved one a little more bang for their buck.

*Surgeon General Note: Pfiagris is not for everyone. Talk to your doctor to see if Pfiagris is right for you. If the effects last more that 4 days, please consult a physician. Common side effects include dry mouth, urinary retention, blurred vision, constipation, explosive diarrhea, implosive diarrhea, sedation (can interfere with driving or operating machinery), sleep disruption, weight gain, sudden weight loss, headache, nausea, abdominal pain, inability to achieve an erection, inability to achieve an orgasm, loss of libido, loss of hair, low blood pressure, agitation, anxiety, and depression.*

Pfiagris: the new number 1 supplement for male enhancement

chicknfeet: The Final Award!!! YAY!!! We made it. Guys we are ready to wrap this thing up and get out of here. So let's stop the bull and bring out our incognito guest announcer Soulreavercross. *fades back into the shadows*

Soulreavercross: Well it's been a really tough year, from my adventures in the Saraha with Bear Grylls, to battling for my life with ManBearPig and then preventing the US Government from nuking our imagination...it's been tough. To top it all off I've been blackmailed to do this award or else my pet rat will be zapped with a high voltage battery, causing it to mutate and become a killer creature known as a Pikachu...

Now without further adu, I'll present the award for Best New Union *hides bribe money*. It was really tough coming up with a single winner for this award and it all boiled down to two finalists...but since there can only be one, I'd like to present the award to The Renegade Squadron Union. This union while it may not be the most active new union on GameSpot, it is one of the most impressive here. Just one look at the home page and you can see that a lot of effort is being put out by the leader and the officers to keep it updated and they are not straying from the main focus of the union keeping the Star Wars theme. The board keeps with the theme of the union has no union games and no 'spam' topics which is an extremely good thing especially for a new union. Kudos to the staff there for that accomplishment too. Like I mentioned it's not one of the most active unions, but it's definately one of the best. Newer unions and even older ones should take a pattern from this union because it's almost at the pinnicle of perfection.

chicknfeet: So that's it people. It has been real...it has been fun...but it hasn't been real fun . The teleporters have been activated again so you are all free to go home or head across town to the after party.

REVOLUTIONfreak: It's been another interesting year in the world of unions! Thanks for tuning your computers into the 2nd Annual Gamespot Union Awards! Unlike chicknfeet's take on things, this really has been real fun!

Gallego: Thank you all for being patient with us! I hope you liked this award show this year, though the orginal is always better....>_>...but anyway, while you where all here, I did not have a few people break into your houses and they did not steal your games and consoles....>_>...quick chickn...Rev! Into the Helicopter!

Acceptance Speech: Great award show guys. It had to be based on the time it took. >_> Looks like my union ended up with Best OT/ Discussion Union. That's great. Well I can't put all the thanks on myself. Theeman2000 started it and got it up and rolling. I was just the senior officer till only last month. But, the knowledge that Club Whatever has been recognized by GS is great. I hope to see you ppl there to have a great time. Once again, I say thanks again to the GS community for voting for the union. You guys are great. Thank you Chicknfeet, REVOLUTIONfreak, Gallego, and Soulreavercross again for these awards, you guys are the best.

i didn't know OT unions were a dime a dozen. I just kind of started Club Whatever, not knowing where it would go. 6 months and 1300 recruits, and many arduous hours of recruiting, it stands where it is. We average over 100 posts per day, and I hope more people will give this union a try.

I'd like to thank all of CW's recruits, who made this union what it was, and my extremely committed leader, and officers: Marksman2200, grafkhun, siberian142, gamah_killer, OmegaNemesis, jeyviolin, julian_jr, and other officers i neglected to mention.

    -thank you-

I'd like to thank all of CW's recruits, who made this union what it was, and my extremely committed leader, and officers: Marksman2200, grafkhun, siberian142, gamah_killer, OmegaNemesis, jeyviolin, julian_jr, and other officers i neglected to mention.

    -thank you-

Thank you everyone, I'm glad my union could get the honor of union that should be gamespot endorsed. Although I plan on moving off-site, this is a great award, and I just wish the Union Leader Council could get more recognition .

Here is my acceptance speech.... (i wrote it for my union. Also we are a STAR WARS union)

Well the Union Awards Show was posted today, and Renegade Squadron Union won the "Best New Union" Award. This is what they said about TheRSU

"Now without further adu, I'll present the award for Best New Union *hides bribe money*. Newer unions and even older ones should take a pattern from this union because it's almost at the pinnicle of perfection."

    or in simpler words....

we've gotta find a quicker and easier way to do these next year..>_< if GS is even in a state where it's worth doing them again next year that is

anyways, gratz to all the unions that won, and to all of those that managed to get into the nominees but didn't actually win in the end..

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting..
Time takes it all whether you want it to or not, time takes it all.
Time bares it away, and in the end there is only darkness.
Sometimes we find others in that darkness, and sometimes we lose them there again.
None can hope to convey the life-sensation of any given epoch of one's existence -
that which makes its truth, its meaning - its subtle and penetrating essence.
It is impossible. We live, as we dream - alone.
The real meaning of enlightenment is to gaze with undimmed eyes on all darkness..
