So, I'm starting to get the feeling that Super Paper Mario isn't turn based in its fighting. Can someone please tell me that I'm wrong? Why would they remove such a staple of the game?

Sorry man, but it's just the paper concept turned into a regular Super Mario game.

Ugh, that's perhaps the worst news I've ever heard.

Close but way off, instead of general PM games that are RPG's with platformer elements it is more like a platformer with RPG elements like leveling up and stuff but with more of a platformer/adventure feel.

    Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q8300 (2.5GHz, 4MB L2, 1333FSB)
    8 GB DDR2 SDRAM 800MHz (4 DIMMs)
750 GB SATA Hard Drive (7200RPM)
    600w Coolmaster PSU
    MSI 4890 HD Cyclone OC 1GB GDDR5 256 bit
Not amazing but for $700 it runs everything I throw at it on high at 1680x1050.

First of all: where have you been...? Second, it is not at all a normal super mario game, like someone mentioned.

Not entirely. Many of the RPG elements are implemented into the game, such as HP, attack points, real time attacks, etc.

Dude, don't be so outdated. It's not Paper Mario 3. It's a platformer with great 2D/3D mechanics.

I can't help it- I'm a true paper mario fan. I loved the way they were. And I'm just completely surprised that they would change forms after the games were such big hits.

But, I'll probably give it a shot. It looks like it's kept some elements of the first two. I just feel like, regardless of the 2d/3d switchable elements, its not going to be as unique as the others were.

I think it's going to be great! If you level up from killing enemies and it is non-turnbased, then it will be amazing! Kind of like Gauntlet games. You level up by actually killing the enemies instead of selecting an attack to use. I love games like that.

its not a paper mario game. Paper mario, the RPG is a turnbased RPG with platforming elements. Super Paper Mario is a platformer with RPG elements. Same franchise name, different games. Its not a sequel like PM2 was to PM1. Its a new genre of game for that franchise. Paper Mario is not dead though. dont worry, they'll have one in a few years.

Its basically the same type of game just with the turn-based elements taken out. It still is very much an RPG. I loved TTYD but there is no denying the combat was very repetetive.

Yeah at first I though this game was just a platformer and nothing more so I was all like "eh". But now that I'm reading previews and watching videos and seeing that it's a platformer and an RPG I'm all over this man!! also IGN said that this game could take up to fourty hours to beat!! W00T!!!

Plus I'm kinda glad there isn't any turn-based action in there because turn-based games are getting pretty old, they're okay but they're pretty much becoming a thing of the past

i dunno about 'banning' it from games, but i think games need to have a more active battle system, instead of turn based crap.

This seems appropiate for what the evolution of Paper Mario games was.  I mean the first one was all but called Super Mario RPG 2 until Square pulled out of Nintendo's pot and took Final Fantasy and their involvement with them.  While I do not expect a proper RPG to come out on the Wii anytime soon, remember that the GBA and DS has two very good rpg's in SuperStar Saga that extend the Paper Mario formula and actually make it an adventure with both brothers.  In my opinion, a much greater system for an rpg than Paper Mario in itself.
