Will Science or Nature Prevail?
Enter a world torn between the opposing forces of nature and the rise of technology. You must choose between these two great forces in order to conquer all forthcoming quests during your journey through the fascinating world of Nelwë. With four races and nine different skill sets to choose from, you'll be able to develop your own unique character, such as a scientist troll magician or an elementalist elf warrior.

In the Silverfall single-player demo, you will experience three maps, all the characters, which includes male and female, as well as the four races from Level 1 to 15. Starting off as neutral, you will evolve in the direction of either nature or technology and recruit two companions, Morka and Danselame, to accompany you during your two quests.

Silverfall (PC) will be released on March 13, 2007.

Silverfall Game Details

Unique character-building system: You have complete freedom to customize your character. Use up to 121 skills that allow unique combinations without being limited by the usual class system.
Innovative skills-synergy system: The spells and skills of the lowest level are useful. Each point invested, even in a spell of the first level, improves one's greater skills.
Four different companions: The effectiveness of your chosen companion is directly bound to the relationship gauge between the two of you.
The choices you make influence gameplay in several ways:
Final-battle ally recruitment: The goblins of Cloudworks will help you if you choose technology, and the Beastmen of Gaïan will support you if you select nature.
Weapon and armor selection: Different weapons and armor have an influence on the battles and the player's visual aspect.
Skill tree: Two separate skill trees each provide 10 special talents (such as lycanthropy or implant, insect invocations or radioactivity). These skills are not offered to the player choosing the opposite way.
Silverfall modification: The principal city, Silverfall, will modify according to the player's alignment.

d3dx9_28.dll is a file needed by Direct X. You can google it to find a download site. This page provides a good explanation.

I'm sorry about the demo installation problems - and for the lack of requirements. Please be assured that all of our demo files are tested out before putting them up on the site. Occasionally installation problems occur if the file gets corrupted during download.

If the system requirements are provided by the developer we will list them on the download page.

Okay, I downloaded the demo and installed it, then when I tried to play it it states it couldn't find file d3dx9_28.dll so it couldn't run!!!!

GRRR! And it did take me about 2 hours to download it on DSL!

How do I get this file for the dumb demo to work?

Count me as another GameSpot full subscriber who has a corrupt download. DSL download, over 2 hours, and then it tells me I have a corrupt installer whatever. Just like some others who have had the same thing. I reported this, and the GameSpot rep says they don't have any problems with it, so guess I'll just download it from FilePlanet. Never have had a problem with any corrupt download from them.

First the "Bad" news : Even being a full-service member of GameSpot, I could NOT get the Demo to download worth beans. I had to get it off FilePlanet.

Now the Good news : This looks like alot of fun to me! To the complainers I have this to say : IT"S ONLY A FREAKING DEMO GUYS! Of corse you can't select more than Race/Sex right now....but did you notice the options (for the full game release) for Skin Tone/etc? It's about time! Also as to the "reset-at-death" thing, this can be dealt with quite nicely if you took the time to talk to the right in-game character (who explains this whole retriving equipment delema) before blindly running amuck, getting yourself killed & posting an angry comment. Oh & as to the protests about game controls....if you're too dumb to use a mouse, you're way to dumb for Silverfall! I'm looking forward to the full release!

Anyone know if the demo allows the use of a gamepad for controls? If not, then I'm not even going to bother continuing the download......keyboard and mouse controls are soooo in the dark ages.

I'm a Total Member on Gamespot, and I'm downloading the Silverfall demo as I type this comment. I actually just started the download about 3 minutes ago, and it's already at 17% complete (getting about 1.45mb/sec). I just hope the game is worth it. Anyone know if this demo allows the use of a gamepad for the controls?

This game is complete pants. Don't bother downloading it. Graphics are execrable and gameplay pitiful. It's a massive download and you end up with something resembling a Gameboy game.... and a bad one at that!

Hi.I am not going to play this game.It could have been a great one but what fails this game is the clumsy saving system. If you die you must go back to the place you died to claim your inventory. The restore will not bring you back to the point before you have died.Such a dissapointment.

    Hmm my first comment.....
Anyways the game itself is alright. Nice enviroments, ok characters. The controls are horrid though, and the demo doesn't allow you to customize any other then race and sex.

Just really the controls. They suck.....

Wouldn't it be nice if we could read the tech info BEFORE we spent 7 1/2 hours downloading on a broadband connection and 25 minutes installing and setting up the game, to find out we don't have enough memory to run it?? Might be helpful! gphillips.1
