Rare dates back to 1985 and has developed games for the Spectrum, NES, and Game Boy. The company is responsible for a number of console versions of franchises such as Killer Instinct, Donkey Kong Country, Conker's Bad Fur Day, GoldenEye, Star Fox Adventures, and Perfect Dark. The company was purchased by and brought under the direction of Microsoft Game Studios in 2002.
