Historically accurate strategy game.

User Rating: 9.5 | Pacific General PC
Based on actual battles in WWII, Pacific General is the latest in the Panzer General line - although that's still old. This is a true military strategy game that requires you to understand the uses of various types of aircraft, warships, armor, fire support and infantry as well as there limitations and how their performance varies in different terrain. The capability and detectability of subs in shallow water is not accurate - subs are dead meat in shallow water or ports. Play the game without any cheats and you'll find out why things happened as they did in the actual battle.
Naval action is a little less realistic. For example, there were very few attempts by submarines to attack destroyers and only one of these was successful. In reality, the WWII sub was no match for a destroyer. Also, shallow waters are a death trap for subs. The idea that a sub can occupy a port and prevent its capture is sheer nonsense. Also, different ranges of tank guns, artillery and naval guns are not taken into accout.
