Like a lot of people, I scoffed at the idea of dropping 10 bucks on yet another Pac-Man iteration. After playing the demo, I gotta admit I was wrong... big time. Needless to say, I downloaded the full game within seconds. Pac-Man CE takes the original and gives it some refreshing new tweaks. In this edition, you are playing against the clock and that makes it really intense real fast. Gobble pellets and ghosts without losing your lives to score the highest possible score within a fixed increment of time. It's simple but it's oh so fun. The graphics are spiced up for the Live Arcade, the sounds are crisp and clean, and the gameplay is as tight as ever. It's different enough to warrant a try, and if you try it, you may just get hooked. On the flip side, it's still Pac-Man, so do expect it to veer from the formula too drastically. The online leaderboards make me feel like I'm back in the arcades again, as I find myself playing again and again to improve my score. If you like old-school games, this puppy's a no-brainer.
