A major improvement from its predecessor. Its a game you can't miss even if you ever-so-slightly enjoyed the first.

User Rating: 8.5 | Overlord II PC
I can't really begin to describe just how bad-ass the sequel is compared to the first. But I can tell you that any fan of the first Overlord should just storm their way to their local gamestore and pick up a copy asap. And even if you aren't a fan of the first, you might just fall in love with the second if you give it a shot. With that in your heads, lets move on through the categories:

Graphics 9/10: When I loaded up Overlord II and ran straight into the game, first thing I noticed was that the graphics seemed to have improved majorly from it's predecessor. More details, sharper images, hell your Overlord looks more bad-ass then ever before. Whilst I can't say they were entirely re-vamped, I can say that they have done a remarkable job improving the textures. The game's engine gives your PC remarkable performance as well, I've been hitting 60+ FPS most of the time with my OC GeForce 8800 GT on max settings at 1440x900. So due to Overlord II's improvement on graphic quality (It's not ground-breaking mind you) and its fantastic performance on PC, I give graphics a 9/10.

Gameplay/Fun-O-Meter 9.5/10: Now it would be wrong for me to say the only thing that improved in the sequel was the graphics, because minion-controlling schematics and minion-usage was improved on majorly. And I do mean MAJORLY. I've yet to encounter problems like I have on the first Overlord with minion controls. An example would be when your minions would just flap around the room going wrong ways, not going the way you want them to even on manual. They have apparently fixed that in the second. Also, they have added in all kinds of new possibilities for your minions on what they can do, and also gave players more freedom in the chaotic destruction department. Though I still wish there could be even "more" innovative ways for using your minions, I felt very satisfied when I experienced all the fun new stuff you can do compared to the first Overlord. Speaking of fun, I gave that bit a 10/10 personally. Overlord is a fresh and innovative series with a side of comedy. It's quite unique, and we all know that a game that's both unique AND fun is something to want or try at the very least. And with that I give Gameplay a 9.5/10 and the Fun-O-Meter a 10/10.

Sound/Music 8.5/10: Honestly I don't really care to go into detail when it comes to the audio department unless its something ground-breaking (Which can be a good or bad thing). Its neither case for Overlord II. The sound effects are satisfying and the music suits the game well, neither side sounds like trash. There is room for improvement however, but with that aside the audio gets an 8.5/10.

Overall 8.5/10: Chaotic minion-summoning madness can be quite fun, especially when the evil one within you is wanting something to indulge in. But despite the full potential the game could've achieved, (Which only counts for ever-so-small a fraction, which is also why I didn't bother mentioning it til' now), I proudly give this game a 9/10, and give it my Seal of Approval for a sequel. It's better than the first in practically every way.

EDIT: It would appear that the PC version of Overlord II is quite obviously superior to the console versions. I took it for a spin on my friend's X360, and I have to say that it is buggy, graphically inferior, and the controls are just awkward (Well that's probably because I use a keyboard/mouse most of the time, but my friend complained about the controls as well so it ain't just me).

So if you haven't given the PC version a s hot, I recommend you do so before you shun the franchise.

ANOTHER EDIT: The score has been dropped from 9/10 to 8.5/10 due to the a few bugs that were found. However it hardly hinders the player from enjoying Overlord II.
