Beta this year "probably"?
Why is he showing it off when it'll be 2015 before it's released?
How many minutes of fun could you possibly get from it as is?
Yes the game is pretty far from release but there is an active community helping to test this game and it gets updated constantly.
You can currently get lots of fun fromt testing the current build and you can also help find bugs afterall thats the point of alpha/beta testing games..
Why is he showing it off?
Well to get more people interested in the game and to drum up more support for it why else?
@Caldrin My point is you can only play the "drum up support" card so many times before people get sick of hearing about it and they associate your game with being pissed off.
I would have thought you would want to show off a more finished product.
I hate everything about Apple, but their marketing tactics are exactly how you sell an idea to someone using hype.
Build the excitement rapidly then tell them they can buy it right now if they want, keep the time delay short.
The further you get from that model, the harder you're making it for yourself. Admittedly with software the effect isn't as pronounced, but still. The Bioshock Infinite page dropped to the lowest hits it had ever had a few days after that little video series was released. They fizzled the excitement out of everyone and now they have to build it back up again.
