While Overclocked is semi-original and gripping, you're left with a feeling it couldve been better

Overclocked grabbed me from the very first second. Unlike most other games in this genre, Overclocked has a very dark and depressing undertone, which will give you an unsettling feeling throughout the game. Specially if you play the game long periods of time, you can see the mental state of the lead character going downhill by the day. You keep waiting for that moment. The mental crack.. He is all but superhuman. It was very nice to play a character that is bothered by everything that is going on around him, and isnt some emotionless puppet for once.
The voice-acting is also nicely done, with no stereotype baddies or overly dramatic accents.

The story is told in a sort of innovative way by flashbacks. These flashbacks come from 5 locked up people in a mental facility you interview/ mentally support after they been found in different parts of town, completely disoriented and in a severe state of panic/ shock and/ or rage. While this is very interesting in the first few hours it begins to get a bit repetetive after a while and you end up going from cell to cell hoping to get something out of one of them that'll keep the story going.

The game itself is very solid and will keep most adventure game fans gripped till the end. .Sadly though.. when you come to the big conclusion, you do are left with the feeling the game is unfinished and that it couldĀ“ve been so much more.

But even though the disappointing end of the story, I sure had a good time playing it, with no technical problems or issues. Took me around the 8 hour mark to finish it all.

I guess if you're up for a bit of a new look on point & click you should check this out. It's by far not a bad attempt, and you've got to give credit to the developers for making a game in the genre in a slightly different way
