A well made horror game that hits most of the points needed.

Okay. So, let's talk about probably the most frightening game I have played. It is very well done in many respects, and even more impressive being an indie game. A good word of warning, this will not be spoiler free, I'll have to go into a bit of the plot of the game as well as some of the characters to explain why I liked the parts that I did like.

The bad. Outlast only suffers from a few things, one of those things is the main character of the first portion of it, he comes off as the average main character of a crappy creepypasta, making puns at the deaths of characters that bothered him, whereas the main character of Whistleblower tries to shame himself for taking any pleasure when he witnesses a death, which is a very sane thing to do. So, I guess I didn't really like the main character of the first portion of the game, he was a bit of an asshole who probably came in just as insane as he would have left. My next big thing with this game is the Walrider, it wasn't frightening at all. The portions of the game when it chases you are more annoying than anything and it's build is kind of insulting compared to the other enemies. He would have been better off not showing up, but letting you know that he's around with sounds going off in the distance father than actually showing up.

The good. The soundtrack to this game works amazingly with the atmosphere that the developers created for this game. I'll say this for Whistleblower two as they share a soundtrack. The voice acting is superb, especially considering this game was an indie game. When I complained about the Walrider I mentioned the other enemies in the game. All of these enemies were designed well, from the grunts having the scars or tattoos, to the giant known as Chris Walker. These villains were amazing. Each had their own personalities. You have the Twins, a couple of what I assume are brothers that constantly talk about ways to kill you and try to instill as much fear into you as they possibly can into you. There's Richard Trager, a man who lulls others into a false sense of safety and then ties them up and tortures them. There's Eddie, a man who tries to turn other men into women by physically removing said man's penis (you see it happen, this game is not for people who can't stand intense disturbing content). The chases with the human villains are actually frightening. This game is also the only game that could make "ooooooo" frightening.

Final Verdict:

This is a game that any horror fan should have in their library. The direction is amazing and it's a horror game that is actually scary to play,
