Woo, male cheerleaders!!

"Wow, A game about male cheerleaders!" is something you don't normally think about when picking up a game. Most people think of that as a stupid concept for a game, until they play it of course.

Ouendan (which I will be calling instead of the long version) is a game in which you play, exactly that, male cheerleaders. Your team goes around lifting spirits and helping people through tough times (Such as helping a boy write an entry essay to his college while his family is a noisy bunch who blatantly ignore his request for silence.) Still not convinced? Didn't think so.

The game starts out simple enough, you have numbered circles that'll show up, and you have to press them in order. However, a ring around the circles moves closer to the center, getting smaller. You have to tap the inside circle when the outside circle is as close as it can be. You can be scored miss, 50, 100, and 300. Also, your score is being monitored by a meter on the top of the bottom screen which slowly moves left. If your score goes red during a cutscene, you'll lose that scene and affect the story of that particular song.

Each song has a beat which the circles follow along. If you're a drummer, or play some kind of instrument, you'll have no problem. But for the rhythmically challenged, this'll be good practice.

The good:
-Excellent variety of music, all of which sound great.
-Great replayability
-Multiplayer over wifi (i believe) and DS to DS (Coop and competitively)
-Excellent gameplay

The bad
-It's in Japanese, but isn't so hard to get into thanks to picture hints

The Ugly
-Not sold anywhere but in Japan and China (and some other countries) which forces you to import.

Note: You can buy the game (I'm not sure if this is allowed, but if it's not, delete this) from www.lik-sang.com. If you get normal shipping it's 50 bucks and the shipping is free (5-14 days). Express shipping is 20 bucks, but you get the game faster (I got mine within three days, however luck was on my side with US customs)
