INCREDIBLE! Great gameplay, graphics, sound, and story. Truly inspired. The intricate time system and Jean Reno enhance.

This game is truly inspired. This one brings the series up several notches. So many elements have been added to make this much more than just a hack-and slash. Nobunaga is back and stronger than ever. The action starts in feudal Japan where an older and wiser Samanosuke challenges the evil warlord. Nobunaga warps through time, releasing the Genma into modern-day France! Soon after, Samanosuke is transported as well, and Jean Reno's French police character is moved to 16th century Japan! He gains the power of a whip, which is very cool and enhances the gameplay. Separated by over 400 years, the two communicate through a mysterious fairy and work together to take down Nobunaga and the Genma. Surprisingly enough for an Onimusha game, this game has a great story which evokes emotion and creates an epic experience. The combat is better; everything is better! The intricate timeplay system is essential to the success. It's very clever and fun. For example, as Samanosuke, you encounter an obstacle which is impregnable because the release mechanism is rusty and a gear is broken or won't turn or something, so you switch to Jean Reno's character and make it work, changing the future and allowing Samanosuke to pass. The cutscenes in this game are astonishingly awesome, by the way. Must play!
