Why do most Anime fans seems to hate One Piece?

Its western Anime fans i was talking about.
Well i guess its mostly Americans because most of the sites i like to visit most of the time are American sites.
Feels like its mostly Naruto and Bleach i see people talk about when they discuss the shounen Anime shows.
Was the 4Kids version really so terrible that it scared away so many people from One Piece?
Yes some Animes got well known after being aired on TV like DBZ for example but should not most Animes get popular and famous from people talking about them on the Internet?
Word of mouth or whatever its called.

I guess i have been unlucky and mostly meet and seen people that watched the 4Kids version then maybe.
The board for this game is on the top ten PS3 games now so i guess thats proof that many people do love One Piece and want to buy and play this game.
Probably only people that watch and like the shows that buy these Anime games.
I hope this game gets great sales so they will see in Japan that One Piece is popular in the west so they will continue releasing OP DVDs and games over here.
I want to own the entire One Piece show on DVD one day. - Sep 26, 2012 5:51 am GMTYou could say it's a plethora of things, for some, it's the 4Kids dub, for others, it's a "typical" anime, in which they claim the plot is generic. Then you have those that say it's boring, it doesn't compare to Naruto and Bleach. The most common complaint I come across, is that people say it's too long, and if they haven't started watching it, they don't want to watch all the episodes to catch up.

Was looking for something new to watch last week and said screw it I will watch the original One Piece.

I've already read/watched every chapter, but I'm enjoying seeing it again. Now if only the stupid game would finish downloading so I could actually play it!
Btw, anybody who calls themselves an anime fan and won't give One Piece a chance because of a bad dub really should be ashamed of themselves. That's what subs are for, people!

The only times Bleach and Naruto were good were like the first two arcs.
After Rukia Rescue, Bleach went head-first into oncoming traffic.
After the Exams, Naruto went head-first into Sasuke's junk and stayed there.

First I tell them there is this awesome movie made by a Japanese studio blah blah blah (The Chopper movie) so I tell them to watch it, some times they do.. Some times they don't..
If they do and like it they are like woot?! The story ends there?! Then I am like umm.. Well not really, there is a series of it..
If they ask how long is it?
Umm.. I think it has 2 seasons.. (Yeah right)
When they finish the 2 seasons.. Ey that didn't seem like the ending, Chopper wasn't even there!
Oh, Chopper appears at around episode 80, you are almost there..
And by that time they watch the show.
Also I know Chopper Movie has Franky and Robin on it, but most of the times people would not remember them when they get to Alabasta or Enies Lobby.
Yeah.. I blatantly lie to them, but I have convinced like 10 people into ONE PIECE like that hahaha.

In all honesty people like you and the TC are the reason I never wanted to watch One Piece. Comparing a SHOUNEN anime to The Divine Comedy or calling a SHOUNEN the best anime ever made. One Piece has the most obsessive fans of any anime that make even the people who freak out over Naruto look docile in comparison.
Saying a shounen is the best anime ever made when stuff like Steins;gate and Monster exists just shows that you are either 12 or you have the intelligence of a 12 year old.

COD is the most hated game out there,why? Because it's so popular and sell over 10mill every year. One Piece is known as the best anime and manga in Japan. So everyone (not in Japan of course) hates it because of it's popularity. I think One Piece is hated in the US only because of the 4kids dub and it's popularity. You must know that in history when anything is popular the community secretly hates on it.
I still remember that my friends make fun of me for liking One Piece. I tried to explain to him why I liked it but he drowned me out with that 4kids pirate rap so he wouldn't allow me to explain. I was really about to punch him in the teeth for that because it was annoying. The main cause of this is the art work, so they bash it. Doesn't matter to me anywho, best manga I've ever read, I'm not the one missing out.

I wasn't comparing them in quality. I simply listed three famous epics as an example to get my point across. One Piece IS written with the intent of it being an epic. It's one of only a few manga that are, so literary examples worked better. Reading comprehension is your friend. Way to prove my point on the ADD thing.
I'm not saying its the best series ever, either. There are quite a few I find to be better by critic's standards. It just happens to be a sentimental favorite....and I love the sense of adventure the series has. Seems lots of anime fans these days are either the hyper type I mentioned or pretentious jerks who think if it's not artsy critically-acclaimed stuff, it's beneath their notice. I watch anime for the same reason I play games: for fun. Why the hell should I care what you think is better? Good for you and your 'amazing' taste. I'll be over here enjoying my new OP game.

4Kids is the major reason that your casual anime fan hates OP, then you have minor reasons like the art style that can turn people off (For example, my niece who isn't really a anime fan didn't care for how one piece looked, but find people like byakuya/ichigo "cute" because of their series' art style...thus she started watching bleach for a bit when she caught a glimpse of it on adult swim ). This is pretty much common among teenage girls who have no experience whatsoever with anime/manga...hell there is a lot of dudes who didn't get into one piece because they didn't like the art, it is what it is.
Also a lot of casual fans in the U.S. got into their current favorite anime from watching toonami when it was on t.v. and adult swim. One Piece just had an extremely unlucky past ending up on FoxBox alongside stuff like f zero gp legend, kirby, sonic x, ninja turtles etc., so it had to get censored accordingly to air alongside all those, lol.
F zero had a show? O.o Is the subbed version any good?

<.< Also it hurts that your post seems like it's dissing all those shows I loved when I was a kid. Because the Foxbox was actually the only version of it most people tended to like. It was Foxkids-->4kids onward that ruined everything.
Yeah they were easily worst than "the top 3" I'll admit, but most people tend to bash those shows a lot (even in japan) lately for some reason.
Btw Not to sound like a troll but the "Vortex" (Made by Sanban) isn't much better than 4kidz on their channel either. Because about half their shows aren't even anime anymore, and they still censored DBZ(Kai)............I know you didn't mention this, but just saying it anyway.
Basically I'd rather still have 4kids on the "CW" than Sanban at the rate their going. (I know Sanban isn't solely focus on anime but still...)
Huge sum up: I'll be honest I like the original Naruto (before the huge fillers) more than OP (just finished CP9 arc), and while OP pretty good, it just doesn't have the touch to be my favorite. Probably because it was never part of mined (any many other Americans) childhood like Naruto.
Shippuden got kinda...wishy-washy, but I won't continue on that for I don't wanna offend anyone.
Bleach, eh fillers aside it's pretty good in my opinion, I like it's "feel" over OP, mostly because I got trolled and people told me OP was face-paced and focus on action....boy was my expectations shifted. OP a unique adventure, but I still prefer Bleach's modern day style.
